  • Patent number: 5012977
Abstract: A vehicle window washer in which the pump outlet pressure is varied in an inverse manner with temperature of the washer fluid so as to maintain a more consistent fluid deposit on the window as fluid viscosity changes with temperature. In particular, it uses a motor driven pump which provides a higher pump outlet pressure with the motor driven in a first direction than with the motor driven in the opposite direction and switches activation of the motor between the two directions based on sensed temperature of the fluid in the washer fluid reservoir.

  • Patent number: 4222805
Abstract: This cylindrical shock absorber has a piston rod extending outwardly therefrom to which a disc-like upper cover plate is secured. The cover plate is castellated with peripheral teeth arcuately spaced from one another extending radially from the outer edges. The dust tube is formed from plastic sheet stock having a series of perforations adjacent one edge sized and spaced to receive the teeth of the cover plate. The sheets are wrapped onto the cover plate with the teeth projecting through the openings to form an outer cylinder. The adjacent end edges of the cylinder are heat welded or otherwise secured so that the cylinder is retained on the cover plate to form a cylindrical dust tube.

  • Patent number: 4185721
Abstract: This hydraulic shock absorber has a piston rod guide in the upper end of the pressure cylinder with a conical recess in which a toroidal piston rod seal of elastomer material is trapped under axial compression loads by a seal cover secured to the reservoir tube. The tapered wall of the recess acting on spaced and upwardly extending peripheral ribs of the seal causes the seal body to radially constrict inwardly so that inner annular sealing lips thereof sealingly engage the piston rod of the shock absorber. Oil pressure in pockets formed between the peripheral ribs also exerts a force to constrict the seal for improved sealing.
