Abstract: In-line control valve constructions are described which include a piston-type valve assembly and a plurality of control chambers (C1, C2, C3, C4) controlled via one or more controls ports (CP1, CP2) to provide a normally-open valve may be closed by controlling the fluid pressure applied to the control port (CP1, CP2), or a normally-closed valve which may be opened by controlling the fluid pressure applied to the control port (CP1, CP2). Also described are valves which have a balanced construction and which therefore include relatively small actuators for opening and closing the valve.

Abstract: A fluid flow control device comprising a housing, an inlet at one side of the housing and an outlet at its other side, and externally-controlled valve means installed within the housing for controlling the flow of the fluid therethrough, characterized in that the interior of the housing is divided into at least two compartments, each having an inlet port and an externally-controlled valve within the compartment for controlling the passage of fluid through the respective inlet port, at least one of the valves being adapted to control the fluid flow through the housing in the direction from the inlet to the outlet thereof.

Abstract: An atomizer comprising a liquid inlet, a gas inlet arranged to receive a pressurized flow of gas, a liquid flowpath extending from the liquid inlet to a liquid stream outlet, and a curved gas flowpath extending from the gas inlet to a location adjacent the liquid stream outlet and including a supersonic flow region adjacent the liquid stream outlet, whereby supersonic gas flow adjacent the liquid stream outlet produces a shock wave which impinges on a liquid stream passing out through the liquid stream outlet for atomizing the liquid stream.
