  • Publication number: 20250273136
Abstract: An electronic device initiates a scan of a display frame in the display, the scan displaying a sequence of display rows from a starting point of the frame to an ending point of the display frame. A horizontal blanking period is positioned in time between each display row during which display emissions are turned off. The electronic device progressively scans a first sub-sequence of the display rows in the sequence during a first time period and then scans a display row having a quiet period inserted into a horizontal blanking period adjacent to the display row. Display pixel operations are delayed until expiration of the quiet period during the horizontal blanking period. The electronic device then progressively scans a second sub-sequence of the display rows in the sequence during a second time period.

  • Publication number: 20250193507
Abstract: User sensing dynamic camera resolution control is implemented by adapting camera settings and/or image processing based on sensed conditions, such as detected changes in an environment indicating user presence while approaching or retreating from a computing device. Dynamic adaptation of camera settings and/or image processing can conserve power and/or reduce user wait time by preparing to resume operation and greet a user as the user arrives at a computing device. An image processor uses sensed conditions to increment and decrement camera power consumption and/or image processing power consumption by dynamically switching between modes, such as powering and/or processing a single subpixel, multiple subpixels, a single pixel, multiple pixels, multiple pixels in a heatmap mode, low, medium, and high/full resolution, at one or fields of view, based on a series of events detected using the camera sensor alone or combined with other sensors, such as a sound sensor (e.g., microphone).

  • Publication number: 20240329781
Abstract: Device performance is enhanced by adapting device and/or component configurations to user grip, lack thereof, and/or a particular user grip type. User grip may be determined based on analyses of motion, chassis touch, and/or screen touch. A chassis touch analysis may be performed with or without generating acoustic waves to detect palm and finger placement near speakers and/or microphones. The chassis touch analysis may be implemented alone or in conjunction with a touch screen analysis for a more complete understanding of user grip. User grip may be matched with a suitable grip configuration for the device or components thereof. A no touch configuration may increase device productivity since the device temperature may rise without user contact. A screen bezel touch configuration may reconfigure displayed icons to avoid unintentional selection.

  • Patent number: 11119621
Abstract: The description relates to computing devices that have one or more displays. One example can manage the display as a unit and identify a change in a condition associated with the display. The example can alter at least one of a location, aspect ratio, or size of the unit based on the condition.

  • Patent number: 10884522
Abstract: Methods, devices, systems, and computer program products are provided for adaptive hover operation of touch instruments, which may increase hover height and improve user experience. Hover range may be adapted, for example, by adapting an antenna configuration during hover. A touch instrument may comprise multiple antennas that may be activated and deactivated, e.g., as a function of proximity Antenna configuration may increment (e.g., increase cumulative antenna size) as hover height increases and decrement (e.g., decrease cumulative antenna size) as hover height decreases. Antennas may be multi-purpose, such as being used to maintain synchronization for extended hover range and for other purposes (e.g., determining hover height, tilt, orientation, grip) and/or features (e.g., providing commands for pop-up menus).
