  • Patent number: 7452520
Abstract: A process for the production of calcium bromide from feed brines, particularly from Dead Sea End Brine (EB), is described. The process comprises extracting the feed brine in countercurrent with a composite organic solvent; optionally, purifying the extract to increase the ratio Br:Cl by contacting it with a part of the product; and washing the purified extract with water to yield the product, that is an aqueous solution of CaBr2. The composite solvent comprises an anionic extractant, such as an amine or a mixture of amines; a cationic extractant, such as a carboxylic phosphoric or sulphonic acid or a mixtures of said acids; and diluent/modifier, which is an organic solvent. An apparatus for the production of calcium bromide is also described, which comprises: an extraction battery; optionally, a purification battery; and a washing battery, wherein at least one of the batteries comprises a plurality of stages.

  • Publication number: 20070158174
Abstract: Method for managing electric power generated during periods of low demand, in an electric power market where consumption of electric power exhibits periods of different demands. The method includes upgrading solid fossil fuel by electromagnetic radiation (EMR) upgrading during the periods of low demand, storing and utilization of the upgraded fuel. Fuel utilization may include burning for electric power generation during periods of high demand, burning in another heat-consuming industrial process, or trading the fuel with another business entity. The EMR upgrading used in the method includes reducing the inherent moisture content in the upgraded fossil fuel at least in half.

  • Publication number: 20070038035
Abstract: A method and system and for screening and indicating individuals with hidden intent, wherein the system comprises: a) a working place for fulfillment of at least one stated assignment; b) a stimuli exposure block configured to exposure at least one stimuli to said working place within at least one exposure timeframe while said timeframe is contemporary with individual's fulfillment of at least one stated assignment and said stimulus does not require an active direct reaction from the individual and is intended to cause a psycho-physiological reaction; c) sensors and measuring tools block configured to register individual's psycho-physiological characteristics giving rise to registered parameters; and a processor configured to compare the registered parameters or derivatives thereof with a test criterion and to facilitate indication of hidden intent in case of predefined discrepancy.

  • Patent number: 3973759
Abstract: A liquid-liquid mixer wherein each impeller is associated with one recirculation chamber or two such chambers, having substantially the same diameter as the impeller. Each such recirculation chamber has the effect of increasing significantly the number of dispersion-recoalescence cycles for a given residence time and in consequence it is possible to employ an impeller of a selectively large diameter -- 50-90% of the diameter of the vessel portion in which it is located -- and to operate at relatively low speeds of revolution.
