  • Patent number: 5741954
Abstract: This invention relates to a process for the preparation of m-alkylphenols, particularly of 3-ethylphenol, from the mixture of alkylbenzenesulfonic acid isomers by selective desulfonation, removal of formed alkylbenzene and caustic fusion. In the present invention the inventive desulfonation is accomplished by addition of steam to the mixture of sulfonic acid in an excess in relation to the amount of evaporable water, simultaneously maintaining the temperature of the mixture above 160.degree. C. until the desired purity of isomers is obtained, and until the content of the sulfuric acid in the mixture is decreased below 40%.

  • Patent number: 5684183
Abstract: The invention is related to a method for preparing 4-alkyl-2-hydroxy-3,5-dichlorobenzene sulphonic acids by sulphonating 4-chloro-3-alkylphenol and by chlorinating 4-alkyl-2-hydroxy-5-chlorobenzene sulphonic acid present in an acidic reaction mixture. According to the invention, chlorination is carried out by adding, to the acidic reaction mixture, salts of hypochlorous and/or chloric acids and, when needed, hydrochloric acid or its salt.

  • Patent number: 5114701
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for producing hydrogen peroxide using a process based on anthraquinone derivatives. According to the invention the solvent system of the working solution in said process contains carbamate having a general formula ##STR1## where groups R.sup.1 and R.sup.2, which can be the same or different ones, are a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group and R.sup.3 is a hydrocarbon group, whereby the groups R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 can optionally be part of a cyclic structure and/or substituted by groups which are inert to the process.

  • Patent number: 4732708
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for converting biopolyesters consisting of straight-chain hydroxyacid monomers containing 10 to 40 carbon atoms, such as suberin and cutin, into a plain mixture of organic acids and their salts containing only a few main components. The depolymerization is carried out according to the invention by oxidizing either with a strong oxidizer or by dehydrating oxidation with strong alkali at elevated temperature.
