  • Patent number: 4633209
Abstract: A DC current electromagnet is provided developing a high pulling force with reduced current consumption. This electromagnet has the form of a cylindrical pot and comprises a mobile armature which slides along a yoke piece through a closure air gap --e, S--, whose reluctance is low with respect to the reluctance of the working air gap --E, s-- when this latter is open and substantially constant during movement.

  • Patent number: 4571565
Abstract: The switch comprises a stationary contact (2) and a moving contact (3) subjected to the action of a magnetic component (12). The moving contact (3) is carried by a rocker-arm (4) which pivots about a pin (10) rigidly fixed to a control device (6). The extremity (4a) of the rocker-arm carries a second pivot-pin (15) which is connected to a mechanical threshold device (18). The second pivot-pin is capable of displacement between a normal position in which the contacts (2, 3) can be closed and opened by the control device and a trip position in which the contacts are permanently separated. The magnetic component (12) occupies a position such as to exert on the rocker-arm (4) a torque which increases the contact pressure prior to tripping of the threshold device and produces a pivotal displacement of the rocker-arm about its pivot-pin (10) in the direction of opening of the contacts after tripping of the threshold device (18).

  • Patent number: 4562323
Abstract: A switch device is provided comprising means for controlling the separation of the contacts and for inserting an electrically insulating screen between the contacts during opening thereof, said screen cooperating with an electrically insulating surface formed by one of the walls of a substantially closed arc chamber, for shearing the arc between the contacts, the control of the movement of the screen being obtained by propulsion means essentially separate from those causing the separation of the contacts, while the whole is arranged so that substantially complete shearing of the arc is obtained before it has had time to stabilize itself, substantially total sealing being obtained between the screen and said surface when they are in abutment.

  • Patent number: 4536630
Abstract: A current limiting switch is provided comprising two mobile levers subjected to the action of springs which apply, one against the other, separable contact pieces placed at the respective ends thereof; a thin electrically insulating screen placed between the levers so that its edge is inserted between the contact pieces while maintaining complete insulation between the levers when these latter move away from each other, following short circuit currents flowing in the switch, wherein the ends of the levers, where the contact pieces are placed, are situated in the immediate vicinity of an insulating surface of the case, so that the path of the arc is essentially tangential with respect to the movement of the mobile contacts, the movement of said edge towards and against said insulating surface causing constriction of the arc and completely insulating from one another the two opposite and sealed chambers which the screen separates within the internal volume of the case.

  • Patent number: 4513270
Abstract: A contactor capable of having a very high breaking power comprises a movable contact carrier bridge (3) having a central part in the form of a blade (3c) and conducting J-shaped pieces (2a-2b) supporting fixed contacts. A non-magnetic blade bent in the form of a U is mounted slidable inside a hollow movable insulating contact holder (1) and guides and holds at its upper end a magnetic plate (8) cooperating with said blade (3c) and forming an air-gap with another U-shaped magnetic piece (6), disposed between the legs of the bent blade (5) and integral (at 7) with the contact holder (1). A contact pressure spring (4) bears on the basis of the U-shaped magnetic piece (6) and on the bottom of the bent blade (5).

  • Patent number: 4472698
Abstract: A threshold coupling device for releasing the mobile contacts of circuit breakers when short circuits appear. A rectangular section blade (13) with longitudinal faces (13', 13") associated with a contact holder (10) is provided with balls (29, 30) which cooperate with a resilient clip (33) for providing a threshold mechanical connection between the contact (6) and an operating member (1, 2) which carries this clip. This coupling is advantageously used in circuit-breaker limiters.

  • Patent number: 4467298
Abstract: A device is provided comprising a simple means for holding the contacts apart and insulated from each other after circuit breaking.A screen formed by an insulating plate of small thickness, is placed between two mobile contact levers and is urged by springs against flanges which are integral with the levers and which move apart when short circuit currents appear for allowing this screen to be rapidly projected between the contact inserts. This simple circuit-breaker device may be used such as it is or in association with a contactor for protecting lines which supply consumer apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4454490
Abstract: An apparatus comprising a plurality of circuit breakers with a rigid contact bridge 16 cooperating with fixed contacts 9, 10 carried respectively by conductors 11, 12, generating repellent forces; the median region 21 of the bridge cooperates with a magnetic structure 37 providing the bridge with compensation forces for the contact pressure when the latter is under a predetermined threshold, above which the bridge is ejected from the fixed contacts. This contactor is advantageously used for the control of power consuming apparatus and protection of their supply lines.
