  • Patent number: 5817090
Abstract: A method of treating facial skin depressions is provided in which, following laser ablation of the epidermal layer, the underlying dermal plug of skin is obtained having minimal thermal damage and is implanted into an area of depressed skin.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 26, 1997
Date of Patent: October 6, 1998
    Assignee: Laser Industries, Ltd.
Inventors: Robert Patrick Abergel, Michael Slatkine, Douglass Mead, Eliezer Zair
  • Patent number: 5814042
Abstract: An apparatus for applying a laser beam to a working surface, by displacing the laser beam to trace a plurality of circular scans over the working surface; and continuously varying the diameters of the circular scans at a rate to produce a substantially homogenous distribution of the laser energy over the working surface.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 24, 1997
Date of Patent: September 29, 1998
    Assignee: Laser Industries, Ltd.

  • Patent number: 5733278
Abstract: A method and apparatus for laser-assisted hair transplantation preferably utilizes a CW mode CO.sub.2 laser, which may already have been installed in a surgeon's office, and a flashscanner to scan the laser over the area of holes to be drilled, thereby minimizing thermal necrosis on the recipient walls or slits. Optionally, a computer controls the laser/flashscanner assembly to redirect the beam from hole to hole, so as to rapidly drill a plurality of uniformly spaced holes. Advantageously, the time duration of the laser procedure is not limited, but depends instead on the CW laser power level parameters and the focal length selected for the procedure, thereby affording the surgeon significant flexibility in choosing appropriate treatment parameters.

  • Patent number: 4597380
Abstract: An endoscopic attachment to a surgical laser comprises a hollow endoscopic tube adapted to be coupled at its rear end to the surgical laser, a coupling device including a pivotable reflector in the path of the laser beam transmitted through the endoscopic tube for reflecting same to the working area at the front end of the tube, and a manipulatable joystick connected to the reflector for manipulating the laser beam to direct it through the endoscopic tube and to selected positions in the working area at the front end of the tube. The attachment is to be used with a surgical laser producing a working laser beam and a separate, visible, aiming laser beam, the latter being partially reflected by the reflector and partially transmitted through the reflector to permit viewing the working area.
