  • Publication number: 20230279509
Abstract: An apparatus for sampling and detecting a pathogen in air comprising a first air sampling module, a second module for the isolation of viral RNA and a third module for amplification and detection of the viral RNA; thanks to the integration between the modules the apparatus is compact and portable and can be used for in situ sampling of air in closed environments such as ambulances or hospital rooms, air in the external environment and air exhaled by patients.

  • Patent number: 8998599
Abstract: An apparatus for injection molding an opening device on a sheet packaging material having a hole possessing an axis, formed through a first layer and sealed by a cover portion of a second layer; comprises a mold cavity coaxially housing the cover portion and comprising a first chamber adapted to be filled with molten plastic material on a first side of the cover portion, and a second tubular chamber projecting along the axis from the first chamber and adapted to be filled with the molten plastic material coming from the first chamber through an annular peripheral portion of the cover portion to form, on a second side of the cover portion, a spout; an annular rib delimiting a passage connecting the first and second chamber and defining, when filled with the plastic material, an annular tearable membrane connection portion between the spout and the plastic material covering the cover portion.

  • Patent number: 8642272
Abstract: The present invention relates to an isolated nucleic acid and polypeptide sequence that encodes for a luciferase of Luciola italica, as well as mutants thereof. The luciferase proteins of the present invention have been found to have extended bioluminescence emission that is red- or blue-shifted, and are useful as a bioluminescent marker or as an additive to selected materials.

  • Publication number: 20120045835
Abstract: The present invention relates to a portable device for the detection of analytes, in particular toxic substances, comprising at least a whole-cell biosensor with cells immobilized onto a transparent and inert matrix that allows the maintenance of cell vitality. The matrix comprises a mixture of collagen and/or its enzyme degradation derivatives, a proteoglycan and a mixture of vinyl polymer and an optionally modified polysiloxane, and an orthosilicate. The biosensor can be a genetically modified cell that expresses luciferase as reporter gene.

  • Patent number: 7878353
Abstract: An opening device for a sealed package containing a pourable food product and having at least one removable portion includes a frame defining a pour opening and having a fastening portion fixable to the package about the removable portion. A cap is adapted to be fitted to the frame to close the pour opening and is removable from the pour opening to permit pour-out of the food product. An anchoring portion which engages the pour opening is fixable directly to the removable portion, and is removable from the pour opening to at least partly detach the removable portion from the package. The anchoring portion is connected integrally to the frame by a breakable connecting mechanism, and is connected to the cap so as to move together with the cap when removing the cap from the pour opening.
