  • Patent number: 9958421
Abstract: The invention provides a packing method for high efficiency chromatography columns starting from dry swellable particles, as well as columns packed by the method and the use of the columns in separation of biomolecules. In the packing method, an amount of dry swellable particles sufficient to give a swollen volume in a liquid of about 105-120% of the column chamber volume is transferred to the column, the column is closed and the liquid is provided to the column.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 20, 2010
Date of Patent: May 1, 2018
Assignee: GE Healthcare BioProcess R&D AB
Inventors: Klaus Gebauer, Elisabeth Hallgren, Raf Lemmens, Ola Lind, Bjorn Lundgren, Jamil Shanagar, Kajsa Stridsberg-Friden, Helena Widegren

  • Patent number: 8277649
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for separating unwanted compounds from an antibody containing biological sample. The device comprises a porous support and a polymeric resin disposed within the pores of the porous support. The device may further comprise a viral clearance membrane upstream or downstream from the polymeric resin. Methods of use are also provided.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 14, 2009
Date of Patent: October 2, 2012
    Assignee: General Electric Company
Inventors: Patrick Roland Lucien Malenfant, Cathryn Ellen Olsen, Vincent Francis Pizzi, Gary William Yeager, Robert Scott Duthie, Per Ola Lind, Stina Elisabeth Hallgren, Annika Morrison
  • Patent number: 8263343
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of separating a target from a liquid, which includes providing a polymer in an aqueous liquid, which polymer comprises at least one hydrophobic portion; contacting the polymer-containing liquid with the liquid comprising the target; applying a stimulus to the resulting mixture; and maintaining it until a reversible phase separation is obtained. One phase is polymer-rich and contains target(s) and another phase is polymer-poor. By either maintaining the stimulus, or applying a different stimulus and maintaining it, the polymer-rich phase is transformed into a substantially solid phase.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: September 11, 2012
    Assignee: GE Healthcare Bio-Science AB
