  • Patent number: 11391737
Abstract: In some embodiments, a method for aiding prediction of the likelihood of progression from Barrett's esophagus to high grade dysplasia or esophageal adenocarcinoma in a subject, is disclosed. The method can include (a) providing an oesophagal sample from said subject (b) determining if said sample stains abnormally with Aspergillus oryzae lectin; (c) determining if there is a DNA content abnormality in said sample; and (d) determining if there is low grade dysplasia in said sample; wherein if (b) is abnormal and (c) is abnormal and low grade dysplasia is present, then an increased likelihood of progression is determined. The disclosed subject matter also relates to an apparatus, and to different uses of certain materials.

  • Patent number: 4709539
Abstract: A girth strap which has a main body part having a tubular webbing sheath closed at opposite ends. The strap has a central nylon reinforcing band and a pair of short end straps carrying buckles. Readily releasable, elasticated end straps are attached to the main body part by tongueless retaining buckles.

  • Patent number: 4434604
Abstract: A cinch strap is provided which is generally of two-part construction. The first part comprises a tensile load-carrying band and buckles are secured to opposite ends thereof so that the strap can be fastened to a saddle. The second part comprises a resiliently compressible, cushioning band secured in face to face relationship with the first part. A closed loop is formed at the center of the strap by respective lengths of the bands and the respective length of the first band lies in a slack bight in an unstressed condition. When the strap is subjected to increasing longitudinal tensile load, for example, by the body of a horse the respective length of the second band stretches until the slack is taken up and any further increase in load is shared between both lengths.

  • Patent number: 4132055
Abstract: A body strap component of equestrian harness or saddlery equipment, such as a girth, surcingle or roller, is disclosed which comprises an elongate tubular webbing sheath formed of woven yarn composed of staple fibers of a polyester synthetic polymer material. The webbing sheath is filled by an insert filling composed of a strip of porous foam expanded plastics material. The ends of the sheath are sealed and are provided with relatively short end straps carrying buckle fastening fittings. Adjacent the end straps, a longitudinally-extending reinforcing band is secured to the sheath and has an elasticity less than the elasticity of the sheath material.
