  • Publication number: 20240140836
Abstract: Microfluidic devices for sterilizing fluids using pulsed electric fields are disclosed. In some embodiments, a device may include first and second electrode layers and a spacer layer positioned between the electrode layers. The spacer layer may define one or more fluid channels extending between the electrode layers. A power supply may be coupled to the electrode layers and configured to supply voltage pulses to the electrode layers to generate electric field pulses within the fluid channels. In some embodiments, the electrode layers may be textured such that the electric fields generated in the fluid channels are non-uniform.

  • Publication number: 20240108383
Abstract: Examples of modular intermedullary nails are described. In one case, a modular intermedullary nail includes a proximal end component, a distal end component and a modular component. The modular component includes a piezoelectric segment to generate an electric charge based on mechanical stress applied to the modular intermedullary nail. A proximal connector connects the modular component to the proximal end component, and a distal connector connects the modular component to the distal end component. The intermedullary nail further includes at least one electrode to electrically couple the electric charge to facilitate bone regrowth.

  • Publication number: 20070211208
Abstract: A frame for eyeglasses to facilitate access to one or both eyes of a user, for various purposes such as the application of makeup, dispensing of medications, and unhindered access to the user's face. The access to the user's face is unhindered by the frame of the eyeglasses when the lens is rotated from a first upright position to a second down turned position and the lower frame portion wraps around to form side arms without substantially deviating from the axis line defined by the lower frame portion in the wrap around portion of the frame thereby allowing unhindered access by a user's hand while still being able to view through the un-rotated lens portion which remains in a substantially vertical position to allow the user to see through this un-rotated lens. The eyeglasses of the present invention comprise one or more (typically two) moveable lens portions which rotate around an axis defined by a lower frame portion of the eyeglass frames.

  • Patent number: 6109429
Abstract: This invention provides storage to hold a number of toilet related items within easy reach of the user of the toilet. The items are easily accessible, enclosed in a fashionable container, and is able to occupy a small area. The apparatus includes a base member, a side member, and a top member to enclose the items held within the container. The top member may be user removable, or there may be an alterative access means such as a door or the like in the side member of the device.
