  • Patent number: 8795319
Abstract: An occluding device for occlusion of fluid flow through a body cavity is disclosed. The device comprises an embolization coil formed from at least one wire strand and having an initial tension. The embolization coil is defined by a primary coil formed into a secondary coil. The primary coil has a primary shape defined by a linear longitudinally extending coil having a plurality of helical turns and is helically wound into the secondary coil, wherein the secondary coil has a series of axially spaced apart loops. The axially spaced apart loops are larger than the helical turns of the primary coil. The embolization coil is movable between an expanded state for occlusion of a body cavity and a collapsed state for delivery or retrieval. An absorbent material, including at least one of cotton and regenerated cellulose, is attached to the embolization coil and extends therefrom. A kit is also included.

  • Patent number: 8246959
Abstract: The invention provides novel dendritic cell-associated lectin-like (DCAL-1) molecules, compositions and therapeutic methods of use. In one aspect, the invention provides isolated nucleic acid molecules that are capable of remaining hybridized to SEQ ID NO:1 or SEQ ID NO:3, including nucleic acid molecules that encode DCAL-1 polypeptides. In another aspect, the invention provides DCAL-1 polypeptides and portions thereof which are useful to stimulate T cell proliferation. In another aspect, the invention provides antibodies that specifically bind to DCAL-1 which are useful for promoting maturation of dendritic cells and for stimulating an immune response in vivo. In another aspect the invention provides methods of stimulating an immune response in an animal comprising introducing into the animal an anti-DCAL-1 antibody of the invention.

  • Publication number: 20090307610
Abstract: An electronic Meeting system that utilizes unique methods and processes to create consecutive successions of audio video Meeting Sessions that occur in set blocks of time continuously 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, world-wide across all time zones. The system provides for a plurality of Members to be simultaneously matched real-time to other Members, using varied matching preferences, for a series of short Meetings to interact one on one for a fixed period of time in a controlled environment. The use of a live Countdown Clock Display allows for a spontaneous use of the system by visually communicating to Members that a Check-in Process for Meetings is always available.

  • Patent number: 6378607
Abstract: A method and system is provided for perforating a casing in a hydrocarbon well so as to avoid perforating in a direction where a cable resides. A mass of metallic material is clamped to the casing at a predetermined offset angle with respect to the cable. The angular position of the metallic mass is detected using a detector placed inside the casing. Then, a perforating gun is oriented based on the detected angular position of the metallic mass and the predetermined offset angle. Finally, the casing is perforated so as to avoid damage to the cable. The cable comprises a number of electrical conductors and is used to communicate with permanent sensors located on the cable in the vicinity of the casing to be perforated.
