Patent number: 11147660Abstract: A prosthesis for repairing a hernia defect includes a patch body, a hoisting frame releasably attachable to the patch body, and a tether attached to the hoisting frame and having a free end extendable through the thickness of the patch body and accessible from the side of the patch body opposite to the side where the hoisting frame is releasably attached. The patch body and/or the hoisting frame includes a self-expanding support member. The hoisting frame includes a frame body and a translation component for directing pulling forces on the tether to the frame body.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 2018Date of Patent: October 19, 2021Assignee: C.R. Bard, Inc.Inventors: Jason Hamilton, Augustus Felix, Elizabeth Blackburn, Kerri MacDonald

Patent number: 10722337Abstract: A patch for repairing a hernia defect including a patch body that is reducible into a small configuration for delivery through a narrow incision or cannula into a patient. A support member assists in unfurling the patch body from the small configuration into an expanded configuration. A sleeve releasably mounts the support member to the patch body.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 2018Date of Patent: July 28, 2020Assignee: C.R. Bard, Inc.Inventors: Elizabeth Blackburn, Alexander Kirby Tee, Mariah Levitt, Craig McCarthy, Aaron Abroff, Evan Gant

Patent number: 10184686Abstract: A system for maintaining a pollutant controlled workspace includes an airtight enclosure with a front access window. A set of impermeable exterior panels and a set of permeable interior panels are slidably mounted within the access window in a spaced apart relationship. Regulated either through a manual control panel or programmable controller, a fan filter unit treats a supply of source air and delivers the filtered air down into a narrow vertical airflow channel located between the exterior and interior panels. Once a suitable amount of pressure accumulates, the treated air penetrates into the workspace as a horizontal laminar flow. Any particulates present in the workspace are drawn rearward by the laminar flow and are trapped behind a multi-apertured back board. The contaminant air is then drawn from a low pressure return located behind the back board and into the fan filter unit for recirculation within the enclosure.Type: GrantFiled: February 1, 2016Date of Patent: January 22, 2019Assignee: CARPE DIEM TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventors: John S. Berg, Dimitur Benchev, Nicole Elizabeth Blackburn

Publication number: 20070010476Abstract: Method and compositions are provided for the determination of telomere length and telomerase activity, as well as the ability to inhibit telomerase activity in the treatment of proliferative diseases. Particularly, primers are elongated under conditions which minimize interference from other genomic sequences, so as to obtain accurate determinations of telomeric length or telomerase activity. In addition, compositions are provided for intracellular inhibition of telomerase activity and means are shown for slowing the loss of telomeric repeats in aging cells.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 14, 2006Publication date: January 11, 2007Inventors: Michael West, Jerry Shay, Woodring Wright, Elizabeth Blackburn
