Abstract: The disclosed embodiments illustrate method and system for data processing by a computing device for generating adaptive recommendations of relevant items. The method includes receiving data associated with a first user from one or more data sources. The method further includes generating one or more item recommendations based on at least a gap value of a parameter corresponding to the first user with respect to a reference value of the parameter, and one or more association factors of the plurality of second users with one or both of each item in the plurality of items and the first user. The method further includes transmitting the generated one or more item recommendations to a mobile computing device associated with the first user over the communication network, wherein the generated one or more item recommendations are selectable by the first user, at the mobile computing device, for item utilization.

Abstract: A computerized food purchase history system automatically determines a current food diet (e.g., based on an automatically maintained food purchase history). The computerized device automatically compares the current food diet with nutritional goals, to identify nutritional differences, and analyzes the nutritional differences, to identify potential changes to the current food diet using said computerized device. The process of analyzing nutritional differences ranks the potential changes based on a previously established measure of emotional resistance to dietary change. The potential change ranked as having the lowest nutritional differences within a calorie limit and an emotional resistance limit is selected as a recommended change to the current food diet. The computerized device then automatically outputs the recommended change to the current food diet from the computerized device.

Abstract: To print a certified document, a user may select or a system may receive a selection of a document to be certified. The system identifies a security template to be used based on the document and/or capabilities of the print device on which the document will be printed. The system may display the document with a non-secure overlay of the selected security template, add a unique security element to the document according to the template, and cause the document to be printed at the selected print device with the added security element without permitting the added security element to be fully displayed or printed on any other device.

Abstract: A method of editing color characteristics of an electronic image includes: a) receiving an original electronic image at a color editing subsystem; b) analyzing the original electronic image to identify original color characteristics and to identify a recommended set of color editing options, the recommended set of color editing options being less than a complete set of color editing options provided by the color editing subsystem; c) presenting the recommended set to a user via a user interface device; d) receiving a color editing instruction from the user interface device in response to the user selecting a corresponding color editing option from the recommended set; and e) adjusting the original color characteristics to form an adjusted electronic image having adjusted color characteristics based at least in part on the color editing instruction. An apparatus for editing color characteristics of an electronic image is also provided.

Abstract: A system and method for dynamically reducing the number of choices by reordering the selectable menu options in each menu of a color adjustment tool based on image content, selections in other menus, and usage history. Color names and color modifiers are reduced and/or reordered through image analysis, with most frequently occurring colors being placed at the top of the menu and excluding less frequently used or unused colors from the menu. Adjustment adjectives are reduced by eliminating nonsensical or rare color adjustment combinations (e.g. make the grays much more colorful, make the blues yellower), and/or reordered based on usage history, either by the individual user or by aggregating over many users.

Abstract: A method, system and computer-readable medium for achieving a target compression ratio for binary images with a minimum of image degradation. Portions of the binary image are strategically replicated and used to replace adjacent portions of the image. This process is continued until a compressed version of the image data satisfies a target compression ratio.
