  • Publication number: 20240113974
Abstract: Mobile management method, system and client. Method includes receiving a DNS query for a host name from an application on client; retrieving reputation data associated with host name from a local cache on client; and determining a policy based on host name and the reputation data. Based on determined policy for the host name, blocking attempted network flows to a host corresponding to host name to produce blocked attempted network flows. Method also includes sending attempted network flow metadata related to the blocked attempted network flows to a collector on client; transmitting the attempted network flow metadata from the collector to a VPN server pool via a VPN tunnel; and producing an anomaly report from the transmitted attempted network flow metadata. The anomaly report includes at least one of anomalies, cohorts, trends, location boundaries, detected network security issues, detected compromised clients and/or optimized network usage.

  • Patent number: 8798541
Abstract: A Bluetooth adapter is shared among guest operating systems of different virtual machines running on a common host computer system using a Bluetooth virtualization stack. The Bluetooth virtualization stack is exposed as a Bluetooth adapter to a guest operating system and as a Bluetooth application to a host operating system. The Bluetooth virtualization stack parses individual socket streams associated with an asynchronous connectionless link (ACL) originating from the guest operating system and couples the socket streams to an application interface associated within the host operating system. Plural instances of the guest operating system and corresponding Bluetooth virtualization stack collectively present a set of socket connections to the host operating system. A Bluetooth driver within the host operating system multiplexes the set of socket streams, advantageously sharing the Bluetooth adapter among different instances of the guest operating system.

  • Publication number: 20140041026
Abstract: A method and system are disclosed for a hybrid virtual machine that allows untrusted software programs to be run securely and with high performance on computers having processors that lack hardware-assisted memory management. Contemporary computer platforms built to enable application developers to deploy software (“apps”) typically employ (a) hardware assisted memory-management and an operating system that “sandboxes” applications' access to hardware peripherals or (b) an interpreted code execution environment that acts as an insulating layer between running application code and the underlying computer hardware, with the environment configured to prevent inappropriate actions. Both contemporary approaches require a processor with a certain base level of performance and/or built-in features, which increases hardware costs. The present invention satisfies the goals of more expensive platforms but is operable on hardware with lesser performance capabilities and/or fewer features.

  • Publication number: 20130189925
Abstract: The protocols necessary to establish a communication relationship between two wireless devices is established by first boot-strapping a configuration message using a first communication means to establish a temporary communicative state so that the two devices can thereafter explore, authenticate and thereafter establish a formal communication relationship using a second communication means. A transceiver can be used to determine the proximity of one device to another can also be used to establish and convey a configuration message providing the necessary information for the establishment of a communication relationship. Using signals generated by modulated electro-magnetic fields, a configuration message can be sent from one device to another device once the second device comes within a certain proximity of the first. Using this message, the second device can be informed as to the steps necessary to configure a high-bandwidth wireless transceiver for reception of pairing information.

  • Patent number: 8448022
Abstract: After execution by a thread of an instruction for invoking a function containing unreliable code, a pointer is stored to thread local storage for the thread in one or more reserved registers. The thread local storage is a portion of memory of the computing device associated with the thread. In the thread local storage, a stack pointer is stored to a position in a call stack associated with the instruction for invoking the function. The function is called, thereby causing the function to execute. In response to a fault occurring in the function, the pointer to thread local storage is used to retrieve the stack pointer in the thread local storage. The position in the call stack is used in a recovery process for the fault.

  • Publication number: 20120015344
Abstract: The disclosure generally relates to a particulate composition formed from a conductive polymer bound to magnetic nanoparticles. The particulate composition can be formed into a biologically enhanced, electrically active magnetic (BEAM) nanoparticle composition by further including a binding pair member (e.g., an antibody or a fragment thereof that specifically recognizes a virus strain or a virus surface protein) bound to the conductive polymer of the particulate composition. The disclosure further provides compositions, kits, detection apparatus, and methods for detecting specific viral strains including those with pandemic potential. In the various embodiments, a triplex including the BEAM nanoparticle, a virus or virally derived material (e.g. strain- and/or strain subtype specific viral surface protein or fragments thereof), and a viral strain subtype-specific binding pair member (e.g., a glycan that recognizes a specific virus strain subtype) is formed and detected, such as by use of a biosensor.
