  • Patent number: 9130820
Abstract: An application framework including different application programming interfaces (APIs) is described which performs a variety of mobile device functions in response to API calls from applications. For example, in response to relatively simple API calls made by applications the application framework manages the complex tasks associated with invitations and matchmaking. By way of example, the details of complex transactions such as establishing peer-to-peer connections between mobile devices may be transparent to the application developer, thereby simplifying the application design process. The application framework may include an application daemon for communicating with a first set of services and an applications services module for communicating with a separate set of services. The application framework may also include a cache for caching data for each of the services based on different cache management policies driven by each of the services.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: September 8, 2015
    Assignee: Apple Inc.
Inventors: Mike Lampell, Nathan Taylor, Christina Elizabeth Warren, Francois-Yves Bertrand, Gabriel Belinsky, Alan Dale Berfield

  • Publication number: 20070043589
Abstract: A pharmacy benefits plan is designed such that covered scripts are placed into Groups and allowances are provided for the purchase of scripts within each Group. Each Group comprises scripts for pharmaceuticals that provide medical benefits within a given time frame. A first Major Group is assigned to scripts for drugs that are prescribed for conditions that would otherwise result in further medical treatment and expense if said drugs were not taken by an insured. A second Major Group is assigned to scripts for drugs that are prescribed for conditions that would not normally result in subsequent medical costs if the drugs were not taken. Relatively high allowances are provided for scripts in said first Major Group such that the out-of-pocket costs of a given script will not be a barrier to said insured obtaining and taking said scripts.

  • Publication number: 20050261939
Abstract: A Pharmacy Benefits Calculator reads in an insured's prior pharmacy claims history and then calculates said insured's anticipated out-of-pocket costs for one or more pharmacy benefits plans that said insured is eligible to enroll in. Provision is made for an insured to modify their anticipated future pharmacy needs. Provision is also made for an insured to compare their out-of-pocket costs for different alternative drugs, said alternative drugs providing comparable therapeutic benefits. Provision also is made for an insured to substitute a lower cost generic equivalent for a brand drug, when available. Another provision is made for an insured to choose to price drugs at a retail pharmacy store or a mail order pharmacy and determine cost differences. The pricing available from said retail pharmacy store may be based on a price negotiated by an insurance company offering said pharmacy benefits plans.

  • Patent number: 5761052
Abstract: An interconnection system is for interconnecting sensors, such as temperature gauges for controlling industrial processes, to a bus cable that interconnects the sensors to a central computation unit. The connection assembly comprises edge card connectors for connection to electronic modules having printed circuit boards. The plurality of modules are interconnected to the ribbon cable bus by a printed circuit board, and a connector mounted on the PCB and pluggable with a bus connector terminated to the cable.
