  • Patent number: 5554432
Abstract: The present invention is a lenticular sheet having lenticles over only a portion of the sheet. The lenticular sheet is formed by bonding a base substrate to a thermosetting polymer sheet having a lenticular array on its top surface. In one embodiment of the invention, a lenticulated image is printed on the top surface of the base substrate. In a second embodiment of the invention, the lenticulated image is printed on the bottom surface of the base substrate. In another embodiment of the invention, which can be used with either of the first two embodiments, text or other material is printed on a portion of the base substrate not underlying lenticles and not having the lenticulated image printed thereon.

  • Patent number: 5519794
Abstract: A method and apparatus for making autostereographic images wherein a computer is provided with a number of planar images in digital form, in a two-dimensional array of columns and rows of digital data. The columns are interleaved and rotated to form an interleaved and rotated image so that the interleaved columns of the rotated image are substantially unaligned with the rows and columns of the digital representation of this image. The digital representation of the image is rotated using an algorithm that is independent of resolution and number of input images. The resulting image is then output on a high resolution imaging device so that the columns of interleaving are substantially unaligned with both the direction of printing and the normal to direction of printing. The output from the high resolution imaging device is then placed in a registered relationship with a means for viewing selected ones of the input images, such as a lenticular or barrier screen.

  • Patent number: 5330799
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for producing autostereograms using ultraviolet radiation-curable thermosetting polymers. A stereoscopic image is printed upon a plastic or paper sheet, which is fed directly onto a surface having an inverse lenticular pattern relief. As the sheet is fed onto the surface, a flow of ultraviolet-curable thermosetting polymer resin is directed at the surface. Ultraviolet radiation is directed at the polymer layer, curing the polymer and forming a lenticular array on the front surface of the polymer layer. During this process, the sheet carrying the stereoscopic image is bonded to the back surface of the polymer lenticular layer in precise registration with the lenticular array. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the inverse lenticular pattern relief is on the outer surface of a transparent cylinder. The polymer layer is cured as it is flowed onto the relief pattern by an ultraviolet lamp placed within the transparent cylinder.

  • Patent number: 5113213
Abstract: There is disclosed a method of making autostereographic images of an object, comprising the steps of inputting to a computer a predetermined number of planar images of the object, each of the planar images being a view of the object, from one of the predetermined number of different viewpoints; interleaving the predetermined number of planar images in the computer; and printing the interleaved images with a high-resolution output imaging device on a spacer, a selected edge of each interleaved image being aligned with a predetermined direction on the spacer.
