Publication number: 20260054809Abstract: An anchoring system for an autonomous underwater robotic (AUR) vehicle used in fluid pipe inspection is disclosed. The system includes one or more extending or anchoring arms positioned on upper and lower sides of the AUR and a motorized actuator configured to extend and retract the arms under control of an onboard controller. The arms apply a controlled compressive force against an interior pipe wall to secure the AUR while maintaining a non-invasive contact profile that prevents surface damage. Optional features include soft end pads, telescoping or sliding arm structures, compression feedback control, spring-biased retraction, and pressure-resistant housings for submerged use. The controller may automatically synchronize or independently operate the arms to compensate for varying pipe diameters. The anchoring system stabilizes the AUR during inspection, data transfer, or recharging operations within fluid-filled pipelines.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 3, 2025Publication date: February 26, 2026Applicant: Motmot, Inc.Inventors: Elliot Smith, Luca Minnich, Demetris Coleman

Patent number: 11947038Abstract: A LIDAR system includes a transmitter unit constructed and arranged to generate light and a photodetector structure for detecting received, reflected light. An actively tunable narrow band optical filter structure is located upstream of the photodetector structure to filter out wavelengths of light associated with sunlight prior to being received by the photodetector structure. The filter structure is constructed and arranged to change optical filtering thereof so as to change wavelengths of light permitted to pass there-through. A photodiode detects light passing through the filter structure. A control unit is associated with the photodiode and the filter structure and is constructed and arranged such that based on the light detected by the photodiode, the control unit can cause the filter structure to change the optical filtering thereof by heating or rotating the filter structure so as to compensate for drifting or broadening of a wavelength of the transmitter unit.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2018Date of Patent: April 2, 2024Assignee: Continental Automotive Systems, Inc.Inventors: Elliot Smith, Heiko Leppin

Patent number: 10592541Abstract: Technologies for dynamic automated content discovery include a computing device that determines a contextual part of a document selected by a user and extracts one or more key terms from the contextual part of the document using an automated key phrase extraction algorithm. The computing device may perform a syntactic algorithm, named entity recognition, or the TextRank algorithm. The computing device may calculate a vagueness score for terms of the document by querying a semantic database and select the key terms based on the corresponding vagueness scores. The computing device performs a content search based on the key terms to generate one or more search results and presents the search results to the user. The computing device may associate each of the search results with the corresponding key term of the contextual part of the document, for example by visually highlighting the key term. Other embodiments are described and claimed.Type: GrantFiled: May 29, 2015Date of Patent: March 17, 2020Assignee: Intel CorporationInventors: Elliot Smith, Max Waterman, Plamena Manolova, Karolina Kret, Mikael Metthey, Alok Barsode

Patent number: 9407892Abstract: In one example embodiment, a program navigation system involves a television (TV) set (or other audio/visual presentation device) and a mobile device. While the TV set is playing an audio/visual program, a keyword recognition module may extract keywords from textual data associated with the program. The textual data may include textual words that match words spoken in the program. Time markers for the keywords may also be saved. A time marker may indicate a play time within the program for the corresponding keyword. The TV set may automatically transmit the keywords to the mobile device, and the mobile device may automatically display the keywords in a user interface. A user may then select one of the keywords. In response, the mobile device may automatically cause the TV set to jump to a portion of the program containing the selected keyword. Other embodiments are described and claimed.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 2011Date of Patent: August 2, 2016Assignee: Intel CorporationInventors: Stanley Mo, Claudio J.
