Patent number: 11927417Abstract: A firearm including a gas drive, having an annular piston which is displaceably arranged on the barrel to form an expansion chamber between two end positions. At least one gas port penetrates the wall of the barrel in the region of the expansion chamber and a selector is provided. In order to provide a simple and easily adjustable mechanism, the expansion chamber is delimited by a ring surface and an inner cylinder surface of the piston, an end surface of the selector and the barrel. The selector is rotatably arranged on the barrel with at least two predefined rest positions. In each rest position, the gas flow from the expansion chamber is delimitable by at least one selector opening formed on the selector.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 2020Date of Patent: March 12, 2024Assignee: GLOCK TECHNOLOGY GMBHInventors: Josef Kroyer, Elmar Bilgeri

Patent number: 11885580Abstract: Firearms with cartridge-case ejection, including a barrel with a movable bolt carrier with a bolt, with a breech face, with a movable ejector and with a firearm-fixed functional edge which pushes the ejector into its ejection position when the bolt carrier moves back after a shot has been fired. In order to create an ejection that is always evenly performed, an ejector lever is arranged on the bolt carrier so that it can be rotated about a pivot axis running normal to the firearm's central plane, which abuts against the functional edge when the bolt carrier moves backwards and thereby twisted so that it abuts an impact surface of the ejector and forces it to the eject position.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 2020Date of Patent: January 30, 2024Assignee: GLOCK TECHNOLOGY GMBHInventor: Elmar Bilgeri

Patent number: 6205696Abstract: A rifle has a barrel which is mounted detachably in the housing in that pairs of clamping rings (11, 12) are provided between the rear part of the barrel (5) and the inner cylindrical surface (3) of the housing (1), which clamping rings (11, 12) have mutually facing conical surfaces and are pressed axially by a clamping nut (13) against a collar (7) on the barrel (5). Such a barrel mounting can also be used for a housing made of light alloy, with simple production and with production-dependent tolerances and alignment errors being eliminated.Type: GrantFiled: January 15, 1999Date of Patent: March 27, 2001Assignee: Steyr-Daimler-Puch AktiengesellschaftInventor: Elmar Bilgeri

Patent number: 5881486Abstract: A hand-held firearm, comprising a casing which accommodates breech parts, a stock which is attached to the casing, and a barrel which is detachably connected to the casing, and having a mounting for a telescopic sight. In order to avoid the disadvantages of the conventional telescopic sight fitting and to allow the entire weapon to have a neat and practical shape, the casing forms a casing extension at the front beyond the connection to the barrel and a longitudinal rail is integrally formed at the top on the casing and on the casing extension as a mounting for the telescopic sight. The casing parts are made of light metal alloy.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 1997Date of Patent: March 16, 1999Assignee: Steyr-Daimler-Puch AktiengesellschaftInventors: Elmar Bilgeri, Ulrich Zedrosser

Patent number: 5852892Abstract: A rifle has a fore-end to which a bipod is fitted which comprises a support part and retractable legs, the support part and the legs being connected by means of pins, which are thickened at their outer end and have a cut-off sector, and depressions with an interrupted circumferential lip. In order to provide a simple, cheap and elegant bipod, the support part is mounted on the fore-end such that it can rotate about a shaft located in the firing direction, the pins are part of the leg and the associated depressions are provided in the support part, and the support part and leg have a circular groove and a circular bead which fits into the groove and projects in the direction of the axis of symmetry of the pin, the axis of the groove and bead being the same as the axis of symmetry of the pin, and their diameter being larger than the maximum diameter of the pin.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 1997Date of Patent: December 29, 1998Assignee: Steyr-Daimler-Puch AGInventors: Elmar Bilgeri, Ulrich Zedrosser

Patent number: 5493974Abstract: In the sub-caliber projectile proposed, the discarding cap (10) is made up of segments (11) whose bases (14) are secured between a pressure plate (15) and a pressure piece (18). In order to ensure that all the sabot segments (11) fall away reliably and precisely, the front end of each segment (11) has two surfaces (40, 41) inclined at an angle to each other in the shape of a roof to form a head (42).Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 1994Date of Patent: February 27, 1996Assignee: Steyr-Daimler-Puch AGInventor: Elmar Bilgeri

Patent number: 5392714Abstract: Described is a sub-calibre projectile of the sabot (pusher-plate) type with discarding cap segments (11). The projectile has a pressure plate (15) with a rearwards-projecting alignment spike (16) which is inserted into a pressure piece (18). Held between the pressure plate (15) and the pressure piece (18) are the bases (24, 25) of the cap segments (11), thus enabling very high gas-pressure forces to be transmitted and the cap segments to be discarded without affecting the target accuracy of the projectile.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 1994Date of Patent: February 28, 1995Assignee: Steyr-Daimler-Puch AGInventor: Elmar Bilgeri

Patent number: 5090327Abstract: A cartridge comprises a cartridge case having a bottom, a top, and a hollow interior, the top being open and receiving a projectile, and the hollow interior containing a propellant charge. A metal ignition tube extends from a primer cap on the bottom of the cartridge case for about one-third the length of the cartridge case. The metal ignition tube terminates in an open end. A detonating agent is contained within the metal ignition tube, but does not completely fill it. An empty channel is formed in the propellant charge and extends from the open end of the metal ignition tube to within proximity of the projectile. Preferably, the empty channel is constituted by a closed tube having walls made from a combustible material. When the cartridge is fired, a darting flame is produced in the metal ignition tube which passes through the open end unhindered into the empty channel, thereby igniting all of the propellant charge surrounding the channel practically simultaneously.Type: GrantFiled: February 11, 1991Date of Patent: February 25, 1992Assignee: Steyr-Daimler-Puch AGInventor: Elmar Bilgeri

Patent number: 5063853Abstract: A cartridge case comprises a metal base piece, a plastic sleeve casing, and a plastic tubular section made as a separate part extending along the inside surface of the sleeve casing. The tubular section includes a flange which extends along and is in intimate contact with an inner face of the base piece. A snap lock design locks the sleeve casing, the base piece and the tubular section together. When the cartridge case includes a flash tube fitted onto the base piece, the tubular section also includes a lip extending from the flange and in intimate contact with the outer surface of the flash tube.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 1991Date of Patent: November 12, 1991Assignee: Steyr-Daimler-Puch AGInventor: Elmar Bilgeri
