    Abstract: Embodiments described herein relate to methods and apparatus for transmitting radio data over a fronthaul network. The method comprises receiving radio data for transmission over the fronthaul network; and translating the radio data between a time domain multiplexing protocol and packet based protocol before transmitting the data over the fronthaul network; wherein the step of translating comprises: receiving control information indicative of a level of congestion over a part of the radio network using the packet based protocol; and modifying the radio data during the step of translating to control the level of congestion.

    Abstract: A method performed by an encoder of a base station system, for handling a data stream for transmission over a transmission connection between a remote unit and a base unit of the base station system, the remote unit being arranged to transmit wireless signals to, and receive from, mobile stations. The method comprises quantizing a plurality of IQ samples, converting the quantized plurality of IQ samples to IQ predictions, calculating per sample a difference between the quantized plurality of IQ samples and the IQ predictions in order to create IQ prediction errors. The method further comprises quantizing the IQ predictions or the IQ prediction errors, entropy encoding the IQ prediction errors and sending the entropy encoded IQ prediction errors over the transmission connection to a decoder of the base station system. The method can be performed by a decoder.

    Abstract: A method performed by an intermediate unit of a distributed base station system of a wireless communication network. The distributed base station system has a first base unit and a second base unit connected to the intermediate unit. The intermediate unit is further connected to a first remote unit, which is further connected for distributing wireless signals to pieces of User Equipment (UEs). The intermediate unit receives, from the first base unit, first data and sends the first data over a point-to-point connection to the first remote unit for further distribution wirelessly over a radio channel to the UEs. In response to the reception of the first data, a first indication is sent to the second base unit that the radio channel is free. The second base unit can send second data that is then to be sent from the remote unit towards the UEs on the radio channel.
