  • Patent number: 5608958
Abstract: The repair of a warped peripheral planar sealing surface commonly provided on gear box or similar complex housings comprises the machining of the entire sealing face of the housing to a planar configuration and then removing additional metal from the edges of the sealing face to accommodate an adhesive sealant to secure a metallic gasket to the component so that the exposed face of the metallic gasket is not only planar but is disposed at the same dimensional location as the original face.

  • Patent number: 5511299
Abstract: In many complicated castings, such as those utilized to define a gear box for an aircraft jet engine, valve housings or mounting recesses may be integrally formed in the casting. Such housings incorporate a plurality of sealing surfaces which cooperate with a valve mounted therein. The repair of such sealing surfaces when worn is accomplished by machining out all bearing surfaces to a substantially larger diameter, then inserting a sleeve element which fits snugly in the newly machined bore and defines a plurality of sealing surfaces dimensionally identical with the original sealing surfaces formed in the housing.

  • Patent number: 5511463
Abstract: A fluid pressure actuator for aircraft ailerons comprises a body having a bore within which a piston sleeve or bushing is mounted only by its inner end. The fluid pressure actuated piston is in turn slidably and sealably mounted in the piston sleeve independently of the actuator body.

  • Patent number: 4153983
Abstract: Cylinder wall repair wherein worn or damaged areas of the cylinder are restored. The cylinder housing is rebored and threaded or ground. An externally threaded or grooved sleeve member is then screwed or inserted into the cylinder housing. The internal configuration and dimensions of the sleeve member may be designed to duplicate that of the original cylinder. The thread or groove design provides tunnels between the sleeve member and the cylinder housing.
