  • Patent number: 4682817
Abstract: A head restraint for use on the backrest of a seat for an automotive vehicle has a post that fits into the backrest and a bracket attached firmly to the upper end of the post. The bracket at its ends carries trunnions, each of which is encircled by a split bushing having radially directed lugs that are separated at the split in the bushing. The bushings, which are otherwise generally cylindrical, fit into arcuate seats on end members, and the end members are in turn attached to and rigidify a metal can or core that forms part of a cushion that is located behind the head of the occupant of the seat. The cushion pivots forwardly and rearwardly on the trunnions between a generally upright position, where is serves merely as a head restraint, and a forwardly inclined position, where it may be used as a head rest. Each end member also has a clamp provided with clamping elements which bear against the sides of the lugs for the bushing in that end member.

  • Patent number: 4485972
Abstract: A burner for a cooking grill has upper and lower sections which are joined together to enclose a plenum for containing a combustible gas. The lower section has a peripheral wall containing apertures which enable the gas in the plenum to escape for burning outside of the burner. In addition, the lower section has a bottom wall provided with a hole, while the top section has a top wall provided with a recess located opposite to the hole. A short inlet tube, to which the combustible gas is supplied, extends through the hole in the bottom wall, and within the plenum segments of the tube are bent outwardly away from the tube axis in the form of tabs which overlie the inwardly presented surface of the bottom wall. These segments leave the tube with openings that permit gas to flow from the tube to the plenum.

  • Patent number: 4226398
Abstract: A furniture swivel unit includes a base plate, a swivel plate positioned over the base plate, and a one-piece bearing located between the two plates. The base plate has an upwardly turned flange at its periphery, and the bearing, which may be molded from a low friction polymer, rests on the base plate along the flange. The swivel plate has a downwardly directed hub, the center of which is open to accommodate a retaining washer that is secured against the base plate and overlies a portion of the swivel plate, thus preventing separation of the two plates. The hub, moreover, projects into and seats against the bearing with the arrangement being such that the bearing takes both radial and thrust loading.
