  • Patent number: 4727776
Abstract: A system for sharpening teeth on a saw chain includes both a motorized grinder and a separate gauge. The grinder includes a rotary grinding element and a height plate which is adjustable relative to the grinding element. The grinder may be used alone to sharpen the cutting edge of individual saw teeth and used in conjunction with the gauge to grind down the forward post of the saw tooth. Specifically, the gauge includes a plate and a flange along one edge of the plate, both the plate and the flange including an opening therein. By placing the flange of the gauge over at least two adjacent saw teeth, the upper surface of the flange defines a reference plane relative to the forward post of the teeth. The grinder may then be used in conjunction with the gauge to grind down the forward post to a preselected depth relative to said reference plane.

  • Patent number: 4664101
Abstract: A portable traction system includes an open frame for mounting directly on a bed, treatment table, or the floor. A tension-applying mechanism is mounted on the frame and attached to a cervical tension cord and a pelvic tension cord. The cervical tension cord is threaded to one end of the frame and extends upward on a vertical post, allowing the patient to undergo cervical traction. The pelvic traction cord extends to the opposite end of the frame and is connected to a pelvic traction belt which goes around the patient's waist. The patient wears a counterbelt attached to the first end of the frame, and may use the system to undergo pelvic traction. Use of the system does not require specialized mounting equipment, and may be utilized by simply placing the frame on a bed, treatment table, or other surface.

  • Patent number: 4466427
Abstract: A portable traction device includes a frame which has an upper surface to support the individual to be subjected to traction. The frame has at least one mounting point at one end of the upper surface. At least one tension member emanates from the frame and has a free end passing through the mounting point and back toward the upper surface of the frame. The free end of the tension member is secured to the individual who is to be subjected to traction. A takeup mechanism for applying tension to the tension member is located on the frame. The takeup mechanism is activated, usually by the patient. The activation mechanism is adapted to disengage when the applied tension reaches a preselected value, while maintaining the preselected tension on the tension member.

  • Patent number: 4432421
Abstract: A garden tool which allows the user to rake, cultivate, thatch, weed and aerate the soil is disclosed. The tool comprises a handle and a work head which includes a number of partially rotatable earth-working elements. One end of each element is specifically adapted to travel the surface of the soil to sever weeds and to cultivate and aerate the soil. The opposite end of each element is adapted to act as a rake for raking and thatching grass lawns. The rake side of the tool can also be used to weed, cultivate and aerate by causing the tips of the elements to penetrate the soil and work it loose.

  • Patent number: 4356816
Abstract: A portable traction device is disclosed. The device includes a frame which has an upper surface to support the individual to be subjected to traction. The frame has at least one mounting point at one end of the upper surface. At least one tension member emanates from beneath the frame and has a free end passing through the mounting point and back toward the upper surface of the frame. The free end of the tension member is secured to the individual who is to be subjected to traction. A takeup mechanism for applying tension to the tension member is located beneath the frame. The takeup mechanism is manually activated, usually by the patient. A system is provided for automatically decoupling the activation mechanism from the takeup mechanism when the applied tension reaches a preselected value, while maintaining the preselected tension on the tension member.

  • Patent number: 3965788
Abstract: A lumber making attachment comprising a saw guide for use with a portable chain saw having a frame with a crossmember assembly mounted thereon which is adapted to slidably engage a guide member positioned on the lumber being cut or to engage an edge surface of the lumber itself. Said frame also having a means for adjustably securing said frame to the saw bar of a chain saw in a manner whereby in operation the cutting elements of said chain saw will engage a portion of the lumber being cut at a predetermined angle and along a predetermined course substantially parallel to the axis of said guide member or said lumber edge. Support means are provided to permit substantially parallel cuts of uniform thickness across the entire width of said lumber.
