Abstract: The microbiological degradation of alkylene amine acetates under alkaline conditions using microorganisms present in activated sludge is achieved by contacting the alkylene amine acetate-containing waste, at a pH of about 9 or less, with activated sludge containing a wide range of microorganisms, in the absence of carrier materials.

Abstract: A process for the bleaching of pulp comprising the step of bleaching the pulp with hydrogen peroxide and an effective amount of at least one biodegradable 1-aminoalkane-1,1-diphosphonate chelating agent to enhance the bleaching of the pulp, is disclosed. Also disclosed is the use of a 1-aminoalkane-1,1-diphosphonate to enhance the bleaching of pulp with hydrogen peroxide, as well as the pretreatment of pulp with a 1-aminoalkane-1,1-diphosphonate prior to the step of bleaching with hydrogen peroxide. Finally, the deinking of pulp in the presence of 1-aminoalkane-1,1-diphosphonate is also disclosed.

Abstract: A bleach prepared from an iron (III) complex of a complexing agent of the formula I ##STR1## in which L.sub.1, L.sub.2 mean an optionally substituted alkylene group with 1 to 4 C atomsL.sub.3 means an alkylene group with 1 to 4 C atoms,Z.sub.1, Z.sub.2 mean OH, NH.sub.2, NHR.sub.2,X means N, P.dbd.0, SO.sub.2 HY.sub.1 means OH, NH.sub.2, NHR.sub.3, NR.sub.3 R.sub.4, SO.sub.3 H, PO.sub.3 H.sub.2, NHCOR.sub.5,R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 mean optionally substituted alkyl or optionally substituted phenylexhibits excellent bleaching action.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to storageable and/or transportable compositions containing a peroxydicarbonate to which an organic hydroperoxide, e.g. t-butyl hydroperoxide, has been added. The hydroperoxide serves to retard peroxydicarbonate decomposition. The compositions may be in the form of physical mixtures, aqueous dispersions or solutions in organic solvents.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to novel peroxy esters carrying a t-alkenyl, e.g. 2-methyl-3-butene-2-yl, peroxy group. These peroxy esters have shorter half-life periods of decomposition and are more reactive polymerization initiators and unsaturated polyester resin curing agents than the corresponding prior art peroxy esters carrying a t-alkyl, e.g. t-amyl, peroxy group.
