Abstract: A protective shield for ultraviolet emiting fluorescent tubes including a pair of end caps through which electrical contacts extend. The shield is formed of a flexible plastic material which is transmissive to electromagnetic radiation in the ultraviolet spectrum and comprises a sleeve of a flexible film having a pair of open ends. Each of the ends includes an opposed pair of flaps including at least one opening therein. The sleeve is adapted to receive the fluorescent tube therein with the flaps at each end being folded over each other to overlap and cover an associated end cap of the fluorescent tube, and with the contacts of the tube extending through the openings in said flaps.
