  • Patent number: 10969234
Abstract: A system and method is provided that creates a multimodal transportation routing that originates using a road-based vehicle which then requires parking. Parking is not necessarily near the destination, but is determined based on user preferences and specification of the relative importance of speed of travel and monetary cost and/or safety. Other factors can also influence the route selection and comprise: parking availability, user preference for parking type, vehicle restrictions, maximum distance a user is willing to walk or bike and what types of public transportation a user is willing to use. Monetary factors include: fuel costs, parking costs, tolls, and public transportation costs.

  • Publication number: 20200255141
Abstract: A system to monitor vehicle accidents using a network of aerial based monitoring systems, terrestrial based monitoring systems and in-vehicle monitoring systems is described. Aerial vehicles used for this surveillance include manned and unmanned aircraft, satellites and lighter than air craft. Aerial vehicles can also be deployed from vehicles. The deployment is triggered by sensors registering a pattern in the data that is indicative of an accident that has happened or an accident about to happen.

  • Publication number: 20200234382
Abstract: Embodiments of this invention relate to a method of determining the risk of driving a vehicle on a road network as a function of, for example, location, time of driving, weather, road conditions, driver ability, and traffic density. Historical information for the above is statistically analyzed to come up with a predictive model. Results can be displayed or presented to a driver while driving or otherwise or another person.

  • Publication number: 20190347739
Abstract: A method and system for determining the risk associated with providing vehicle insurance. A database is compiled that contains historical information pertaining to vehicle and driver activities and risk factors associated with elements of a road network. The historical information may include, for example, accident counts, and weather and road conditions during the accidents. A statistical predictive relationship is developed to estimate insurance risk as a function of the historical information for each road element. During driving, vehicle and driver activity are monitored and subsequently, insurance premiums are calculated based on the developed model and when and where a vehicle and/or driver travel. The model is periodically updated and refined.

  • Publication number: 20190087413
Abstract: A system and method for using semantic understanding in storing and searching data and other information. A linearized tuple-based version of a conceptual graph can be created from a user input. A plurality of conceptual graphs, or portions thereof, can be compared to determine matches. An associative database can be created and/or searched using a hierarchy of conceptual graphs in tuple format, so that the data storage and searching of such database is optimized. The associative database can be used to integrate data from multiple different sources; form part of an Internet or other search engine; or used in other implementations. Also disclosed herein is a system and method for use of semantic understanding in searching and providing of content is described herein.

  • Publication number: 20170169625
Abstract: Described herein is a system and method of use for a vehicle diagnostic distributed database. One or more central servers are configured with a database containing diagnostic information pertaining to vehicles and relative to input received by the central server/s from client devices. The central server is configured to upload and download information with in-vehicle and external to vehicle diagnostic systems. These tasks are performed by first having the central server/s broadcast a message over open airways (for example, FM sidebands) to all potential client devices of interest. The message contains information identifying specific characteristics of client devices that should respond and further information about the information that is desired to be uploaded to the central server/s or for downloaded to the clients of interest. If clients meet the broadcast criteria, they then establish two-way communication with the central server/s and fulfill the request.

  • Publication number: 20160063549
Abstract: Systems and methods are described to provide additional relevant content to a viewer of digital media such as a webpage. A webpage being viewed is divided into regions and in each region, statistics are compiled on pertinent words and phrases. Statistically significant words and phrases are compared with semantically similar words and phrases in the additional content. Where there is a significant match between the viewed content and available additional content, the additional content is provided to the user.

  • Patent number: 9243920
Abstract: A system and method for adapting the routing information provided by a mapping or routing device. In accordance with an embodiment, the system comprises a data collection component (e.g., one or more GPS, accelerometer, or other means of determining location and/or movement), and a route calculation logic that can use information about a first geographical location (origin), and a second geographical location (destination), to calculate a routing information, such as driving directions that a user can follow to drive from the origin to the destination. An information filtering application adapts the amount of information that will be presented to the user at a particular location, moment in time, or based on other criteria. In accordance with an embodiment, the information filtering application can, in some instances, be provided as a third-party application.
