  • Patent number: 4108726
Abstract: Serum angiotensin converting enzyme is elevated in many patients with sarcoidosis. A method involving formation of the fluorescent adduct of o-phthaldialdehyde and the histidyl moiety of the L-histidyl-L-leucine product formed by the action of angiotensin converting enzyme on hippuryl-L-histidyl-L-leucine substrate is applicable to determining angiotensin converting enzyme in untreated serum for the diagnosis of sarcoidosis. This method is simple, rapid and highly sensitive, and requires as little as one ul or less of a serum.
