Abstract: In one example, a method is directed to defining and applying policies for backing up virtual machines in a cluster environment. One or more user input parameters are used to define a set of policies for a backup, and the policies in turn form the basis for development of a backup workflow which can then be scheduled and implemented according to the schedule.

Abstract: Methods and systems are directed to an update-optimized and memory-efficient method for transactional full-text index view maintenance. Embodiments include a method and system of reducing the overhead requirements of maintaining a transactional index view in the case of a large number of updates at any particular time. The method involves maintaining a single blacklist bitmap across updated transactional query views, applying the latest set of updates to the bitmap when a new view is required, and post-adjusting the bitmap when the transactional view is created to ensure that entries that should be visible have not been removed.

Abstract: Identifying a repository object is disclosed. An object identifying information usable to identify a repository object with respect to which an operation is desired to be performed is included in a request not specific to any one manner of identifying objects. The request is sent to a node associated with a repository in which the repository object is or will be stored. At the receiving end, e.g., a content server, the object identifying information included in the request is used to identify the repository object with respect to which the operation is desired to be performed, for example to retrieve the repository object.

Abstract: Receiving and executing at a server a script provided by a client, e.g., in a service request sent by a web services or other service client and/or consumer, is disclosed. In various embodiments, the script is configured to cause the server to do one or more of the following: pre-process at least a portion of the services request; post-process a response data associated with the services request; and replace an operation comprising the service at least in part with a replacement operation defined or identified at least in part in the script.

Abstract: A technique is disclosed for quiescing a file system. The technique includes holding a change request, flushing the file system, and releasing the change request. Flushing may include sending a flush request, determining whether a cache associated with the file system is flushed, and in the event that the cache is not flushed, resending the flush request and determining whether the cache is flushed.

Abstract: Discovering environment objects for information management in a networked environment. Information management provides services such as data protection, backup, retention, compliance, etc., by classifying the objects and/or infrastructure of an entity according to its value to the entity. Information management begins by discovering the data in a network and by discovering the servers and services operating in a network. The servers and services are discovered using adapters that can collect information regarding the environment objects. This information can then by used by information management systems to assign or orchestrate various services.

Abstract: A system for biometrically securing business transactions uses speech recognition and voiceprint authentication to biometrically secure a transaction from a variety of client devices in a variety of media. A voiceprint authentication server receives a request from a third party requestor to authenticate a previously enrolled end user of a client device. A signature collection applet presents the user a randomly generated signature string, prompting the user to speak the string, and recording the user's as he speaks. After transmittal to the authentication server, the signature string is recognized using voice recognition software, and compared with a stored voiceprint, using voiceprint authentication software. An authentication result is reported to both user and requestor. Voiceprints are stored in a repository along with the associated user data. Enrollment is by way of a separate enrollment applet, wherein the end user provides user information and records a voiceprint, which is subsequently stored.
