Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention include a computer-implemented method of performing a financial transaction on a network comprising storing a plurality of risk factors and associated severities in a web-enabled remote policy database, the severities defining actions taken when a specific risk factor is detected, storing a plurality of hold override policies that associate a financial transaction type with a hold type in the policy database. Various embodiments can receive transaction data including an image of a check, applying the plurality of risk factors to the transaction data, and applying the plurality of hold override policies to the deposit data. Finally, other embodiments include a web-enabled user interface through with users can review and approve/disapprove the handling of exceptions to the risk factors, severities, and hold override policies on a real-time or near-real time basis.
