  • Patent number: 4622161
Abstract: Dosing unit comprising a detergent and/or a bleaching agent contained in a sachet which entirely or partly consists of a sealable substrate and is provided with one or more seams that are sealed with a water-sensitive coating composition. The moment at which the sachet opens is to a great extent independent of the agitation and heating up behaviour of the (dish)washing machine. This is attained by using a coating composition comprisingan anionic and/or a nonionic water binding polymer anda cationic polymeric adhesive.

  • Patent number: 4397391
Abstract: The invention relates to an imposed means of ensuring that the sealing edge(s) of a flat, for instance rectangular, detergent-containing sachets is (are) kept closed. The sealing edge is of the type which is sealed with such a glue that it opens in the water of the washing machine at a temperature above room temperature. The improved means consists in that said sealing edges of the sachets may be bent as they are packaged in a box, as a result of which premature opening of the sachets is prevented during transport or after they have been introduced into the washing machine.

  • Patent number: 4234442
Abstract: The present invention relates to a feed unit of a detergent composition containing one or more surfactants, an alkali carbonate, and an acid which forms water-soluble calcium salts and magnesium salts and/or complexes, and in which detergent composition the acidic constituent and the alkaline constituent are separately present, the acidic constituent having a higher rate of solubility in a wash liquor than the alkaline constituent, and the total amount of alkali being present in excess relative to the amount of acid. The invention is characterized in that the feed unit comprises a sachet which entirely or partly consists of a material permeable to or disintegrating in water and is filled with the acidic and the alkaline constituent, the acidic constituent containing 5-30 percent by weight, calculated on the total amount of detergent composition, of an acid having a pK.sub.1 value in the range of 2.8 to 4.8.

  • Patent number: 4210550
Abstract: The present invention relates to a detergent composition containing one or more surfactants, an alkali carbonate and an acid, and in which detergent composition the acidic and the alkaline constituent are separately present, the acidic constituent having a higher rate of solubility in a wash liquor than the alkaline constituent, and the total amount of alkali being present in excess relative to the amount of acid. Characteristic of the invention is that the acidic constituent of the detergent composition contains 5 to 30 per cent by weight, calculated on the total amount of detergent composition, of one or more acids having the formula:HOOC--(CH.sub.2).sub.n --COOH,where n is 2,3, or 4It is preferred that the acidic constituent should contain a mixture consisting of 20 to 40 per cent by weight of adipic acid, 20 to 40 per cent by weight of succinic and 20 to 60 per cent by weight of glutaric acid.

  • Patent number: 4000127
Abstract: Carboxymethylated derivatives of polysaccharide compounds such as starch are disclosed which have improved sequestering properties and are useful as water softeners as well as detergency builders in detergent compositions. The compounds are water-soluble and have from 0.5 to 3 hydrogen atoms of the hydroxyl groups per monomeric six carbon glucose unit entirely or partially substituted with at least 2 neutralized or non-neutralized carboxyl groups.Built detergent compositions containing the water-soluble carboxymethylated derivatives of polysaccharide compounds with organic water soluble surfactants are also disclosed. The compositions exhibit improved sequestering power.
