    Abstract: Disclosed is a cellulose ester film for optical use which contains an ultraviolet absorbent and hardly suffers from retardation fluctuations. The cellulose ester film is excellent in spectral absorption property as an optical film. In addition, the cellulose ester film is free from coloration and has excellent transparency, which having sufficient ultraviolet absorption and excellent long-term light resistance. Also disclosed are a polarizing plate and liquid crystal display wherein high contrast is maintained by using such a cellulose ester film for optical use. Specifically disclosed is a cellulose ester film for optical use which is characterized by containing at least one compound represented by one of the general formulae 1-3. Also specifically disclosed are a polarizing plate and liquid crystal display using such a cellulose ester film for optical use.
