  • Patent number: 5785866
Abstract: Process and apparatus for treating water containing halogenated ethylenes, preferably ground water, for use and consumption by humans and animals, in which the water is exposed to the action of ozone and to high energy, in particular ionizing radiation. In a preliminary treatment, ozone is added to and/or mixed with water of essentially drinking water quality except for the above-mentioned halogenated ethylene constituents and harmful substances. The circulating water is then irradiated with electrons. The ozone concentration immediately after leaving the irradiated region is at least 0.1 ppm.

  • Patent number: 4203863
Abstract: There is disclosed a process for the production of solid particles of bioinjurious waste, e.g., radioactive concentrates, wherein a liquid, and in a given case a binder containing waste is divided into drops and supplied energy in a gaseous medium, the liquid is evaporated and the drops form solid particles. There is supplied carrier free energy to at least partially vaporize the liquid of the drops, in a given case under reduced pressure and in a given case with a binder forming solid particles from the drops.

  • Patent number: 3935364
Abstract: Heat-sensitive porous substrates such as wood, plywood, plyboard, particleboard, fiberboard, cardboard, paper, fiber cement, asbestos cement, concrete and natural stone are coated with a synthetic resin by mixing an aqueous dispersion of 100 parts by weight of a saturated synthetic resin with 2 to 40 parts by weight of an organic liquid consisting of a mixture of 70 to 10 percent by weight of at least one mono ethylenically unsaturated compound having a boiling point of less than 190.degree.C. and 30 to 90 percent by weight of at least one ethylenically unsaturated compound having a boiling point of at least 190.degree.C. in order to swell the resin particles, applying the mixture to the substrate to form a film thereon and hardening the film with UV radiation or with electron radiation to form a hard smooth surface coating on the substrate.
