  • Patent number: 5422434
Abstract: A floor box wiring fitting incorporating a novel carpet flange possessing a self-closing flap cover assembly, whereby the fitting is adapted to be cast into a concrete floor of a building for the conductance of electrical power or telecommunication signals between the work spaces of buildings. The self-closing action of the flap covers which are hingedly connected to the flap cover plate structure, the latter of which consists of a carpet flange, is essentially implemented through an angular operative contacting relationship between the wall surfaces of the openings receiving the hinging portion of the flap covers and the contiguous or adjacent wall surface of the flap cover which, in effect, will inhibit the flap covers from being opened or swing upwardly from a closed horizontal position to an acute opening angle greater than about 85.degree..

  • Patent number: 5393930
Abstract: A self-anchoring flush-type poke-through electrical wiring fitting which is adapted to be positioned in a floor aperture which is formed in a concrete building floor, for enabling the conducting of electrical power and telecommunication signals between the work spaces of multi-storied buildings. A retainer clip is engaged between a floor cup structure and disc-shaped fire barrier inhibiting displacement of the retainer clip. The retainer clip is constructed of a cold-worked stainless steel material, preferably such as type 302 or 304 annealed stainless steel possessing a minimal degree of resilience.

  • Patent number: 5272278
Abstract: An in-floor multiple-service wiring device and, more particularly, a poke-through wiring fitting incorporating a novel flap cover assembly, and which fitting is adapted to be positioned in a floor aperture of a concrete building floor for the conductance of electrical power and telecommunication signals between the work spaces of multi-storied buildings. The flap cover assembly incorporates an upper cover plate consisting of metallic material, preferably such as brass or the like, and a lower cover plate, preferably constituted from a rigid molded plastic material and which is fastened to the upper plate member in surface contact with the rear face thereof.

  • Patent number: 5237128
Abstract: A poke-through wiring device for mounting in a bore opening through a concrete floor slab includes individual tubes for through-floor passage of power supply and data/communication conductors, an intumescent barrier for sealing the bore, and an above-floor service fitting having a main frame including a bottom wall having spaced apart power supply and low voltage data/communication openings therethrough. A pair of opposing sidewalls extend upwardly from the bottom wall and each defines a plurality of receptacle openings. A unitary receptacle barrier mounted on and cooperating with the frame isolates the power supply opening, at least one receptacle opening in one of the sidewalls and at least two of the receptacle openings in the other of the sidewalls from the data/communication opening. An auxiliary frame may be connected to the main frame to increase the number of available receptacle openings.

  • Patent number: 5220131
Abstract: A poke-through fire barrier with knock-out fire barrier openings. The structure includes a fire barrier element which is constituted from an intumescent material in the shape of a disc member which is adapted to be installed in a passage or opening formed in a fire-rated floor, and wherein the intumescent disc member incorporates one or more knock-outs for the passage therethrough of insulated conductors or wires.

  • Patent number: 5121594
Abstract: A fire-rated fitting includes conduit members forming passageways for wires to extend through an opening in a fire-rated floor. The fitting includes intumescent material which expands under heat to form a fire barrier. A top plate is provided on the fitting, the plate being easily detachable from and attachable to the fitting. The top plate can form a template for marking the locations of mounting holes. The fitting with the top plate attached is then firmly mounted in a non-rotatable fashion in the floor opening by using threaded fasteners through the top plate to attach it to the floor.

  • Patent number: 4902852
Abstract: A power pole is constructed so that a U-shaped body portion forming a power conductor channel extends beyond a similarly shaped portion forming a communications conductor channel by a predetermined distance. A cover plate and a top plate are provided to close this extending portion to form a wiring chamber. The cover plate is provided with edges which interlock with the edges of the power channel structure, the edges being crimped to form a permanent assembly. The top plate is removable to provide access to the interior of the chamber.

  • Patent number: 4577055
Abstract: A power pole is provided with a wiring assembly including a mounting plate having openings for mounting screws and openings suitable positioned to be aligned with communication and power chambers in the pole to permit the egress of wires therefrom. The plate is supplied with threaded holes to mate with mounting holes in an extension ring to form a junction box on the plate. A separate barrier member is mountable on the same mounting screws as the plate and divides the extension ring into communication and power chambers. The wiring assembly is therefore a multi-purpose assembly permitting substantial flexibility in the connection of wires emerging from within the pole.
