  • Patent number: 7309097
Abstract: A covering apparatus protects motor vehicle occupants from an openable roof of the vehicle in which the roof is movable along an enveloping surface between a stored position in which the roof is opened and a closed position in which the roof is closed. The apparatus includes a cover movable between a rest position in which the cover is stowed and a protecting position in which the cover is extended, wherein the cover moves between the rest position and the protecting position without intersecting the enveloping surface of the roof prior to or during movement of the roof between the stored and closed positions of the roof. In the resting position, the cover is located between the vehicle interior and the enveloping surface formed by the opening and closing motion of the roof.

  • Publication number: 20070102465
Abstract: A load carrier, such as a bicycle carrier, for a motor vehicle includes a support frame. The front section of the support frame, relative to the forward direction of vehicle travel, leading toward the vehicle may be shortened in length from a rearwardly extended position of the load carrier by being folded up.

  • Patent number: 6955388
Abstract: In a hardtop vehicle roof with at least two rigid roof parts arranged in a closed position in the longitudinal vehicle direction one behind another such that they cover an interior vehicle space and, in an open position, one of the roof sections extends upwardly behind the interior vehicle space so as to form a wind deflector while the other roof parts are disposed in a rear storage compartment, a trunk lid extends over the rear storage compartment in such a way that, with the roof opened, a gap is formed between the front end of the trunk lid and a front wall of the rear storage compartment through which the roof part forming the wind deflector projects upwardly behind the interior vehicle space.

  • Patent number: 6761392
Abstract: In a hardtop vehicle roof which is movable between a closed position, in which it covers a vehicle interior, and a storage position and which includes rigid roof shells which, in the closed position, are disposed end to end adjacent one another, at least one of the roof shells includes a center section and side sections which are pivotally connected to the center section and the center sections are displaced in the storage position of the roof shells upwardly relative to the respective side sections so as to be received within one of the roof shells thereby to reduce the volume required for the storage of the roof shells in the storage position thereof.
