  • Patent number: 11188104
Abstract: An electronic thermostat replaces an electro-mechanical thermostat and is located in a different location from the blower motor it controls. The electronic thermostat controls the blower motor on the same wires from which the thermostat receives power. The safe, low voltage power supply that powers the electronic thermostat is located at the blower motor location and is housed in the Blower Motor Module (BMM). This configuration has the advantage that it removes a bulky and space consuming component from the thermostat, the A/C transformer. This also reduces the amount of power (heat) dissipated by the electronic thermostat power supply, thus reducing a source of potential temperature measurement inaccuracies. Also, removing the 120 VAC power from the thermostat and replacing it with an isolated low voltage source increases safety.

  • Patent number: 11113762
Abstract: Interactive graphical user interfaces (GUI) are provided. An interactive GUI is generated on a display of a user device, comprising one or more screens to display baseline portfolios and user adjustment tools for customizing variables of the baseline portfolios. The portfolios comprise a combination of data structures, with each data structure defined by a combination of components and/or parameters. The variables comprise a portfolio strategy and/or a customizable parameter. An adjustment indication is received from the user device via the interactive GUI via the user adjustment tools. A variable is adjusted responsive to the adjustment indication. The interactive GUI dynamically updates and displays the adjusting and an impact of the adjusting on at least one other variable as the adjusting occurs. A confirmation indication is received from the user device via the interactive GUI. A user-customized portfolio of data structures is created and issued responsive to the confirmation indication.

Abstract: Interactive graphical user interfaces (GUI) are provided. Baseline data structures are received from among entity systems via data feed interfaces. An interactive GUI is generated on a display of a user device, comprising one or more screens to display the baseline data structures and user adjustment tools for customizing characteristics of a displayed structure. An adjustment indication is received from the user device via the interactive GUI, via the user adjustment tools. A characteristic of the displayed structure is adjusted responsive to the adjustment indication. Responsive to adjusting the characteristic, another characteristic of the displayed structure is adjusted, thereby reflecting an impact of the adjusting on the other characteristic, which adjusting and impact are dynamically displayed as the adjusting occurs, via the interactive GUI. A confirmation indication is received from the user device via the interactive GUI.

  • Patent number: 10353412
Abstract: A power harvesting system employs a saturable core transformer having first and second primary windings and a secondary winding. The first primary winding is a high impedance winding with a large number of turns and the second primary winding is a low impedance winding with a small number of turns. The first and second primary windings are connected to a load. A relay is operable in a first state to connect A/C power to the first primary winding and in a second state to connect A/C power to the second primary winding. When A/C power is connected to the first primary winding, a small current flows in the first primary winding which is insufficient to activate the load but sufficient to transfer power to the secondary winding. When A/C power is connected to the second primary winding, a larger current flows in the second primary winding sufficient to activate the load and to transfer power to the secondary winding.

  • Publication number: 20190011940
Abstract: A power harvesting system employs a saturable core transformer having two primary windings and at least one secondary winding. One of the primary windings is a high impedance winding, and the other primary winding is a low impedance winding. The two primary windings are connected with the load (motor). The secondary winding provides power to the circuit components of a replacement electronic thermostat. Relay contacts connects A/C power to either the high impedance primary winding or to the low impedance primary winding. When the relay is de-energized, A/C power is applied to the high impedance winding so that a relatively small amount of current flows through both the high impedance winding and the load. This current is low enough that it does not energize the load but is sufficient to generate the required voltage to transfer power to the secondary winding. This power can be used to power an electronic thermostat.

  • Patent number: 9148344
Abstract: A method of linking a mesh node to a particular physical location is provided which achieves a very high degree of linking accuracy. Linking is authorized to take place only when stringent location verification criteria have been met and utilizes a Linking Application Program in a compatible portable device such as a smartphone. The Linking Application Program takes the installer through a step by step installation and linking process that ensures the maximum possible linking accuracy. The verification criteria requires that the pertinent data be gathered and then utilized to ascertain if indeed a mesh node being installed is in the right location.

  • Patent number: 7771171
Abstract: A system in a turbine engine for preventing wear on a tip shroud of a turbine blade that includes a pocket formed in a contact surface of the tip shroud and a plug that fits within the pocket and has a durable outer surface. The durable outer surface may include a cobalt-based hardfacing powder. The pocket may be machined out of the contact surface, and the plug may include a plug of predetermined size that fits snugly into the pocket. In some embodiments, the durable outer surface may substantially align with the contact surface after the plug is fitted into the pocket. In other embodiments, the durable outer surface may remain slightly raised from the contact surface after the plug has been fitted into the pocket.

  • Patent number: 7476085
Abstract: Blade load path on a gas turbine disk can be diverted to provide a significant disk fatigue life benefit. A plurality of gas turbine blades are attachable to a gas turbine disk, where each of the gas turbine blades includes a blade dovetail engageable in a correspondingly-shaped dovetail slot in the gas turbine disk. In order to reduce gas turbine disk stress, an optimal material removal area is defined according to blade and/or disk geometry to maximize a balance between stress reduction on the gas turbine disk, a useful life of the gas turbine blade, and maintaining or improving the aeromechanical behavior of the gas turbine blade. Removing material from the material removal area effects the maximized balance.
