Abstract: Monofilament dental tapes including a core body having first and second opposing external faces, where at least one of the external faces has a plurality of indentations protruding into the core body of the dental tape, where the plurality of indentations are provided in from about 5% to about 95% of the total area of the first or second external faces, the indentations having a depth within the core body corresponding to from about 0.1% to about 95% of the thickness of the core body, taken transversally to the external face containing the plurality of indentations.

Abstract: A texturized dental floss formed of a bundle of texturized filaments (1) and comprising, in each floss extension unit: cleaning portions (10) having a determined longitudinal extension and circumferential contour, which are previously defined in the bundle of texturized filaments (1); and fastening portions (20), each being provided between two consecutive adjacent cleaning portions (10), having a determined longitudinal extension in which the filaments are cohered and contained in a circumferential contour, which is substantially reduced in relation to that of the cleaning portion (10), said fastening portions (20) being provided in order to maintain substantially unaltered the elasticity and flexibility characteristics of the bundle of filaments (1).

Abstract: Dental floss, of the type comprising a strand consisting of multiple filaments, which are made from one or more materials selected from the group consisting of cotton, silk and polymeric materials, and a coating composition which impregnates said strand and includes a water emulsionable carrier carrying one or more active agents selected from the group consisting of germicides, therapeutic agents, flavorants, sweeteners, abrasives and others, at least one sweetener being in aqueous solution. According to the invention, the water emulsionable carrier includes a waxy material selected from the group consisting of animal waxes, mineral waxes, vegetable waxes, synthetic waxes and mixtures of two or more of these waxes and an emulsifier, in order to make said coating composition homogeneous and soluble in saliva, the sweetener aqueous solution having a sufficiently low amount of water to prevent the impregnated strand from exuding when compressed.
