    Abstract: A label printing and attaching system includes a label printing device and a label attaching device. The label printing device has an ink tape supply mechanism for supplying an ink tape with a label pattern. A label tape supply mechanism of the label printing device is adapted to supply a label tape that includes a carrier tape and blank label paper adhered to the carrier tape. The label printing device further includes a heat transfer machine adapted to heat transfer the label pattern on the ink tape onto the blank label paper of the label tape to obtain a desired label. The label attaching device has a label picker adapted to pick up the label with the printed label pattern from the label tape, and a moving device adapted to move the label picker to place the picked label with the printed label pattern onto a product.

    Abstract: A first cryptographic device is authenticated by a second cryptographic device. The second cryptographic device stores an alternative version of a secret value associated with the first cryptographic device as a countermeasure to compromise of the secret value. In conjunction with a protocol carried out between the first cryptographic device and the second cryptographic device, the second cryptographic device determines the secret value based at least in part on the alternative version of the secret value, and utilizes the determined secret value to authenticate the first cryptographic device. The alternative version of the secret value may comprise a randomly-skewed version of the secret value. For example, the secret value may comprise a key or other parameter of the first cryptographic device and the alternative version of the secret value may comprise a randomly-skewed version of the key or other parameter.

    Abstract: The invention provides methods for treating or preventing bone degenerative disorders. The disorders treated or prevented include, for example, osteopenia, osteomalacia, osteoporosis, osteomyeloma, osteodystrophy, Paget's disease, osteogenesis imperfecta, and bone degenerative disorders associated with chronic renal disease, hyperparathyroidism, and long-term use of corticosteroids. The disclosed therapeutic methods include administering to a mammal an inhibitor of GDF-9 or BMP-15 in an amount effective to: (1) treat or prevent a bone degenerative disorder; (2) slow bone deterioration; (3) restore lost bone; (4) stimulate new bone formation; and/or (5) maintain bone mass and/or bone quality. The invention also provides methods for administering a GDF-9 agonist or a BMP-15 agonist to treat a bone disorder characterized by increased bone density or mass.
