  • Patent number: 8857842
Abstract: Rear suspension for a bicycle which includes a rear swing arm (15) which carries the hub (19) of the rear wheel (20) and pivots via at least two pivot points (23, 24) on a frame (1) carrying a bottom bracket (12). The swing arm (15) pivots about an instantaneous center of rotation (25) located close to the stretch upper length of the chain (21), or to the straight line extending on from it, in a position of static equilibrium. The instantaneous center of rotation moves inside a horizontal band (27) in such a way that the instantaneous center of rotation (25) moves horizontally and forwards when the swing arm (15) moves upwards as the wheel goes over an obstacle.

  • Patent number: 8286982
Abstract: The present invention relates to a suspension system for a bicycle of the type that comprises: a frame (1); a front fork (6) comprising a front damper (8); a swing arm (16) hinged to the frame (1) and a rear damper (25); and at least one shock sensor (30), said sensor (30) being connected to a monitoring unit (28) controlling the front damper (8) and/or rear damper (25) on the basis of the signal sent by said sensor (30); said system is noteworthy in that the front damper (8) and/or rear damper (25) is a variable-compression damper that has at least three positions, an open position in which compression is greatest, a closed position in which compression is zero, and a so-called medium position; and in that it has, as a minimum, means for detecting pedaling called pedaling sensors (29) connected to the monitoring unit (28) which, when pedaling is not detected by the pedaling sensor (29), sets the damper (8, 25) compression command to the open position and, when pedaling is detected by the pedaling sensor (29)

  • Publication number: 20090102158
Abstract: Rear suspension for a bicycle comprising a rear swing arm (15) which carries the hub (19) of the rear wheel (20) and pivots via at least two pivot means (23, 24) on a frame (1) carrying a bottom bracket (12), the swing arm (15) pivoting about an instantaneous centre of rotation (25) corresponding to the intersection of the straight lines (d1, d2) passing through the axes of rotation (23a, 23b; 24a, 24b) of the respective pivot means of the swing arm (15); said instantaneous centre of rotation (25) is located close to the stretch upper length of the chain (21), or to the straight line extending on from it, in a position of static equilibrium and moves inside a horizontal band (27) in such a way that said instantaneous centre of rotation (25) moves horizontally and forwards when the swing arm (15) moves upwards as the wheel goes over an obstacle.

  • Publication number: 20090096187
Abstract: The present invention relates to a foldable bicycle of the type including a chassis, a so-called frame (1), on the one hand, and a rear arm (15) firmly attached to the frame (1) and bearing the axis of the hub of a driving rear wheel (16) on the other hand, the driving torque being transmitted to the driving wheel (16) through a chain (17) extending between a driving pinion (13) firmly attached to the frame (1) and a driven pinion (18) firmly attached to the axis of the hub of the driving wheel (16); said bicycle is remarkable in that the rear arm (15) consists of at least two so-called horizontal arms (19a, 19b), one of the ends of which, a so-called proximal end, is jointed to the frame and the other end of which, a so-called distal end, bearing the axis of the hub driving rear wheel (16), is firmly attached to one of the ends of said rear oblique arms (20a, 20b), the other end, a so-called proximal end, of said rear oblique arms (20a, 20b) being provided with male or female firm attachment means capable of

  • Patent number: 7427077
Abstract: A rear suspension for a vehicle such as a bicycle or motorcycle that includes a frame, a swinging arm integral with the frame carrying the axle of a drive wheel hub and a shock absorber whose ends are secured to the frame and to the swinging arm, the swinging arm being secured to said frame by at least two articulation means so that the swinging arm pivots about an “instantaneous centre of rotation” that is movable when the hub is displaced on either side of its reference position corresponding to the position of the hub axle when the vehicle is in a static equilibrium position, characterized in that the instantaneous centre of rotation is displaced upwards along a parabolic path, the asymptote of which is oriented towards the rear free end of the swinging arm carrying the axle of the hub when said hub is displaced above its reference position.

  • Publication number: 20060061059
Abstract: The present invention relates to a rear suspension for a vehicle such as a bicycle, a motorcycle or the like, of the type that includes a frame (1), a swinging arm (7) integral with the frame (1) carrying the axle (11) of the hub of a drive wheel and a shock absorber (15) whose ends are secured, respectively, to the frame (1) and to the swinging arm (7), the drive torque being transmitted to the drive wheel by a chain (Z) extending between a drive sprocket secured to the frame (1) and a driven sprocket secured to the axle (11) of the hub of the drive wheel, said chain (Z) between the drive and driven sprockets forming two strands; the stretched, upper one, which transmits the drive torque to the rear drive wheel, and the other, “return” lower one, the swinging arm (7) being secured to said frame (1) by at least two articulation means (12, 13) so that the swinging arm (7) pivots about an “instantaneous centre of rotation” point C that is movable when the hub of the drive wheel is displaced on either side of it
