  • Patent number: 7853641
Abstract: There is disclosed a method and a system for accessing information and/or data available on a wide area computer network (100), such as the Internet. A first modulated acoustic signal (A) is transmitted to a group of potential users each provided with a portable communication unit (1, 1*), this first modulated acoustic signal including at least one identifier (ID—1, ID—2, ID—3, . . . ) associated with a link to a determined site of the wide area computer network. These identifiers are stored in the portable communication unit then subsequently downloaded to a computer terminal (50, 51, 52) connected to the wide area computer network. After the downloaded identifier or identifiers have been compared with a determined list of identifiers (ID_A, ID_B, ID_C, . . . ), a list of links (Link_A, Link_B, Link_C, . . . ) to sites corresponding to the downloaded identifier or identifiers is generated by the computer terminal.

  • Patent number: 7774599
Abstract: A system securing inter-process communication (IPC) based on trust includes a user quota mechanism to provide resource management of IPC's. A single user is allowed to allocate a fixed amount of objects less than a system maximum. A trusted IPC mechanism mediates access to IPC objects by employing signed executables signed by a key and containing a list of trusted keys. A trust relationship is used among a set of subjects connected to an IPC to determine whether communication can be carried out between processes. In order for the processes to communicate via an IPC, either they have to trust each other, or a kernel must trust one process and that process must also trust the other process.

  • Patent number: 6934521
Abstract: The present invention concerns an automatic time-setting system for a portable object having an horological function. The present invention also concerns a portable object having an horological function capable of being automatically set to the right time, such as an electronic timepiece. According to the present invention, the portable object (100) includes means (11) for receiving an acoustic time-setting signal (50) and means (12, 13) for deriving time-setting indications (ho, mo) from this acoustic time-setting signal (50) allowing said time indication of the portable object (100) to be corrected. According to the present invention, the portable object may advantageously be set to the right time via an acoustic time-setting signal (50) transmitted for example by the loud speaker of a personal computer, a television, a radio or a telephone receiver.
