  • Patent number: 6814755
Abstract: A synthetic cornea for placing in a recess formed in the cornea, the recess opening out into the anterior face of the cornea so as to leave Descemet's membrane intact. The synthetic cornea comprises a piece (42) of flexible transparent material having an axis of circular symmetry and presenting an anterior face (44) in the form of a spherical cap of radius Ra and a posterior face (46) in the form of a spherical cap of radius Rp, the central zones of the two faces being separated by a distance e, and a side wall (48) substantially in the form of a truncated cone whose axis coincides with the axis of symmetry and whose apex lies in front of the anterior face, the angle a made between the section of the side wall and the section of the posterior face in a section plane containing the axis of revolution being less than or equal to 45°.

  • Publication number: 20040088049
Abstract: The invention relates to a synthetic cornea for placing in a recess formed in the cornea of the eye, said recess opening out into the anterior face of the cornea and not into the posterior face so as to leave Descemet's membrane intact. The synthetic cornea comprises a piece (42) of flexible transparent material having an axis of circular symmetry and presenting an anterior face (44) in the form of a spherical cap of radius Ra and a posterior face (46) in the form of a spherical cap of radius Rp, the central zones of the two faces being separated by a distance e, and a side wall (48) substantially in the form of a truncated cone whose axis coincides with the axis of symmetry and whose apex lies in front of said anterior face, the angle a made between the section of the side wall and the section of the posterior face in a section plane containing said axis of revolution being less than or equal to 45°.

  • Patent number: 6106552
Abstract: The invention relates to a corneal prosthesis device for putting into place in the cornea. The device comprises an optical part (10) made of a first transparent material and of substantially cylindrical shape presenting an anterior face (14) defining an optical surface and a posterior end (16), an annular anterior skirt (18) projecting from the side wall of the optical part and being made of a biocompatible and biocolonizable synthetic polymer that is distinct from said first material, and a posterior annular skirt (20) projects from the side wall of the optical part and is made of said first material.

  • Patent number: 5354332
Abstract: The invention relates to an artificial cornea comprising a transparent optical part placed in an orifice formed in the cornea. Its posterior end is fixed to a support part by being screwed thereto. The support part is pressed against the inside wall of the cornea. To assist in holding the support part, the prosthesis may include a fixing part which exerts forwards traction on the optical part and thus on the support part.
