  • Publication number: 20080171314
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for controlling the microbiological quality of an environmental aqueous medium, suspected of containing various micro-organisms, having the following steps: selecting a reference set, having at least three micro-organisms, representing jointly or separately a microbiological quality level; providing a microbiological detection kit, having at least three probes specifically and respectively identifying said three micro-organisms; after treating the medium to be analyzed, contacting said micro-organisms, or any fraction thereof derived from the medium to be analyzed therefrom, with said detection kit, whereby a multiple determination of the micro-organisms is carried out, the determination representing the microbiological quality level of the medium.

  • Patent number: 7179636
Abstract: The invention concerns the use of filtering means comprising a housing (2) wherein are arranged parallel to one another a plurality of hollow fibers (3), whereof the porous wall (3a) of each defines an aperture (4), so that said means comprises a inner path and an outer path (B) corresponding to the volume available between the fibers and the disc separator for treating an initial sample with large volume comprising in diluted state a plurality of micro-organisms of different sizes. The invention is characterised in that during at least a concentration step, one single means of filtering is available, the atomic mass unit threshold of the porous wall (3a) of the fibers is determined so as to retain the smallest micro-organism of the initial sample, said means being used in frontal mode and discontinuously, thereby providing the output sample liquid, that is the concentrate.

  • Patent number: 6808879
Abstract: This invention relates to means of qualitative and quantitative analysis of microbial populations potentially present in a sample. These means notably comprise the use of at least one RNA-targeted oligonucleotide probe for in situ hybridization in whole cells; followed by the extraction of those probes which have become hybridized by separation from their target and elution from the microbial cells; as well as the detection and measurement of said extracted probes.

  • Publication number: 20040072239
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for controlling the microbiological quality of an environmental aqueous medium, suspected of containing various micro-organisms, comprising the following steps: selecting a reference set, consisting of at least three micro-organisms, representing jointly or separately, a microbiological quality level; providing a microbiological detection kit, consisting of at least three probes specifically and respectively identifying said three micro-organisms; after treating the medium to be analysed, contacting said micro-organisms, or any fraction thereof derived from the medium to be analysed therefrom, with said detection kit, whereby a multiple determination of said micro-organisms is carried out, said determination representing the microbiological quality level of the medium. The invention also concerns an appropriate microbiological detection kit for implementing said method.

  • Patent number: 5789174
Abstract: The present invention relates to probes and primers for the detection of periodontal pathogens such as Bacteroides forsythus, Porphyromonas gingivalis, Prevotella intermedia and Prevotella nigrescens. As well, the invention relates to rapid and sensitive methods for the detection and identification of periodontal pathogens from an oral sample taken from a patient. Diagnostic kits for the detection and identification of periodontal pathogens in an oral sample from a patient, are also disclosed.
