Patent number: 9148624Abstract: A system for and method for providing graphical contents during a communication session is presented. The system and method include receiving, via an input/output module, one or more call invite request messages to establish a communication session in a communication network, processing, via a processing module, the one or more call invite request messages to identify a graphical content account associated with one or more users of the communication session, and transmitting, via a presentation module, one or more graphical contents from the graphical content account associated with at least one of the one or more users before an establishment of the communication session.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 2009Date of Patent: September 29, 2015Assignee: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.Inventors: Rosa M. Underwood, Jimmie D. Peterman, Henry A. McKelvey, Emory L. Young

Patent number: 8423817Abstract: A system and method in accordance with exemplary embodiments may include detecting a fault associated with a network element that is communicatively coupled to a network. After detecting the fault, the network element may receive a reset signal in response to the fault detection. After receiving the reset signal, the network element may store a new image of an operating system of the network element into memory associated with the network element. After storing the new image, the network element may reboot. During reboot, the method may load the stored new image of the operating system from memory associated with the network element.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 2008Date of Patent: April 16, 2013Assignee: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.Inventors: Henry A. McKelvey, Jimmie D. Peterman, Rosa M. Underwood, Emory L. Young

Patent number: 8384250Abstract: A system and method for ensuring that a large number of connectors, such as fiber-optic cable-connectors, which are plugged-into connector-receptacles arrayed across a connector-panel, are not intentionally disconnected by an un-authorized user with malicious intent, or accidentally unplugged by an authorized technician who may be trying to manually pull-out a specific connector for testing or other purposes but, inadvertently, could otherwise unplug a neighboring connector because of not being able to clearly see which plug is actually being removed due to the large number of cables that are connected to the panel. The connectors are locked in place by restraining arms which are controlled by solenoids or motors. Each restraining arm can be commanded to release its respective connector, but only when the correct command from a computer is received. The same system and method can be applied to connector-receptacles arrayed on one or both sides of the panel.Type: GrantFiled: August 1, 2008Date of Patent: February 26, 2013Assignee: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.Inventors: Rosa M. Underwood, Henry A. McKelvey, Jimmie D. Peterman, Emory L. Young

Publication number: 20120274999Abstract: A system, method, and device for producing, transmitting and displaying images in holographic form of up to three dimensions. Information representative of a three dimensional image can be converted into three-dimensional positional data. The three-dimensional position data can be converted into an electromagnetic field which can be received by nanomachines configured to adjust position in accordance with the electromagnetic field and including mirrored endpoints for reflecting light. The nanomachines can adjust position in three dimensions so that the mirrored endpoints reflect light in a manner that reproduces the three dimensional image in holographic form.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 3, 2012Publication date: November 1, 2012Applicant: VERIZON PATENT AND LICENSING, INC.Inventors: Henry McKelvey, Rosa M. Underwood, Jimmie D. PETERMAN, Emory L. YOUNG

Patent number: 8175518Abstract: A system for and method of receiving internet radio broadcast via satellite radio is presented. The system and method allow internet radio to be delivered to consumers on a mobile electronic device. Internet radio can be individually customized to deliver certain types of content and can also deliver on-demand content. The system and method therefore provides for the delivery of customizable on-demand content to a consumer's mobile device with the stable and wide-ranging connectivity of satellite radio.Type: GrantFiled: July 1, 2009Date of Patent: May 8, 2012Assignee: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.Inventors: Rosa M.
