  • Patent number: 7516572
Abstract: A method for preventing and controlling insect pests is provided. First, the spectral sensitivities of photoreceptors in the compound eye of the insects were measured intracellularly by equal quantum flux measurements; the measured signals were preamplified and then sent to a PC-based data acquisition system. Next, the colored papers were chosen according to the spectral sensitivities of the photoreceptors to test the color preference of the insect, and the data was analyzed with the ANOVA test. A linear model was used to analyze the choice rate data obtained from the color preference tests. Finally, the spectra of the colors, which preference of the insect were obtained to further developing a visual cue trap.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 1, 2006
Date of Patent: April 14, 2009
    Inventors: En-Cheng Yang, Wen-Yen Wu, Yu-Po Chen
