  • Patent number: 7960604
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the production of an absorbing sanitary article comprising lactic acid producing bacteria. The process comprises dispersion of lactic acid producing bacteria in a carrier, and application of the resulting dispersion of bacteria by continuous or discontinuous gentle feeding on and/or in at least one component that are to form part of the final article. Furthermore, the present invention relates to an absorbing sanitary article comprising lactic acid producing bacteria dispersed in an essentially hydrophobic carrier. The dispersion of bacteria forms at least one continuous or discontinuous string on and/or in the final sanitary article.

Inventors: Hanna Tengberg, Kristina Runeberg, Helene Jonsson, Endre Kvanta, Johan Burenius, Anna Weiner Jiffer
  • Publication number: 20080057046
Abstract: The present invention discloses novel isolated strains of lactic acid producing bacteria of the genera Lactobacillus and Pediococcus, and a method for isolation of such bacterial strains, having the ability to colonise and become established in a human vagina, even during menstrual discharge. Furthermore, a composition comprising said bacterial strains and a sanitary article comprising said bacterial strains, such as a tampon, for prophylaxis and/or treatment of infections of the urogenital tract, are described. The present invention also describes a method for prophylaxis and/or treatment of infections of the urogenital tract, wherein at least one of said bacterial strains are administered vaginally.
    Type: Application

  • Patent number: 5093121
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of increasing the protein contents of milk in milk producing animals by introducing into the animal a culture of one or more non-pathogenic lactic acid producing live bacteria in admixture with a carrier. The invention also relates to a preparation containing said lactic acid producing bacteria in admixture with a carrier facilitating the optimal growth of the bacteria in the stomach-intestine system of the animal. The invention also deals with the use of non-pathogenic lactic acid producing live bacterial for increasing the protein contents of milk in milk producing animals.

  • Patent number: 4943437
Abstract: A process for supply of low concentrations of biologically active materials to base materials such as a processed foodstuff or an animal food, in which the biologically active material is slurried in an inert carrier, where it is insoluble, to form a homogeneous suspension, after which the suspension is applied to the base material by means of a device converting the suspension to an easily applicable form, the suspension coating the surface of the base material in an even layer. The suspension is maintained homogeneous by stirring and at an even temperature before being applied to the base material at such a rate than an even and predetermined concentration of the biologically active material is obtained per weight unit distributed on the surface of the base material.

  • Patent number: 4132597
Abstract: A method for cultivating fast growing bacteria and their stable metabolites in order to reach optimal cultivating time is disclosed which comprises introducing a volume of inoculum containing the bacterium sought to be cultivated and a quantity of nutriment containing a nitrogen source, growing factors, a carbon source, and a pH-stabilizer into a fermentor. The volume of inoculum in the fermentor is utilized as a production determinative factor and is determined according to the following equation:a = V.multidot.n/2.sup.twherea = volume of inoculum in litersV = cultivating medium's total volume in litersn = bacterium strain's generation time in hourst = cultivating time in hours. The result is that a grown cultivating medium is obtained which includes a mass of the desired bacterium.
