  • Patent number: 4984037
Abstract: A semiconductor device, specifically an FET, having a body which includes a matrix of semiconductor material, specifically silicon, having an array of individual rods of conductive material, specifically TaSi.sub.2, disposed therein. The rods form Schottky barriers with the semiconductor material. A gate contact is made to several of the rods at one end, and source and drain contacts are made to the matrix of semicondcutor material. Current flow in the semiconductor material of the matrix between the source and the drain is controlled by applying biasing potential to the gate contact to enlarge the depletion zones around the rods.

  • Patent number: 4855985
Abstract: A recording system for representing digital information in the form of marks and the absence of marks at a plurality of locations, each mark being formed in response to energy delivered by an optical beam; the device includes a material configured in a form to receive the beam at selected locations for forming the marks, the material being characterized by undergoing pyrolysis to form the marks at the selected locations in response to the energy.

  • Patent number: 4425527
Abstract: Selective optical absorption filters which transmit infrared light and absorb or partially reflect visible light comprise thin films of partially pyrolyzed polymeric aromatic pyromellitimides. The filters are characterized by a metallic luster and maximum light transmittance above about 2 .mu.m wavelength.A lamp is disclosed having a reflective filter disposed behind the filament to reflect visible light forward through the front portion of the lamp while transmitting infrared light rearward through the back portion of the lamp.

  • Patent number: 4110259
Abstract: An electrochromic display device includes a cermet electrochromic film. The cermet may comprise a conventional electrochromic material, such as tungsten oxide, and a noble metal, such as gold. In a preferred embodiment, the electrochromic cermet material includes a metal content of about 25 atomic percent. The electrochromic cermet is blue as prepared, and, when colored, is red. This electrochromic cermet material can be used in combination with other electrochromic materials, such as tungsten oxide, so as to result in a multicolor electrochromic display.
