  • Patent number: 8089676
Abstract: Optical device that comprises a spatial light modulator and a spectral filter that normally comprise several parts, such that each part of the filter (V; R; A; L) corresponds to at least one part of the modulator. The spectral filter is superimposed to the spatial light modulator such that the transmittance of each part of the filter is coordinated with the phase offset introduced by the corresponding part of the modulator. In one embodiment, the spatial light modulator is a programmable liquid-crystal device. The invention presents several ways in which to coordinate the transmittance of each part of the spectral filter with the programmed time variation of the phase offset introduced by each part of the spatial light modulator, such that each part of the latter receives light at a spectrally filtered wavelength and focuses it in the same plane.

  • Patent number: 7604350
Abstract: Method for calculating an ophthalmic lens comprising [a] calculating and constructing a computational model of an initial lens with a given prescription, [b] calculating the three sections of the optical path traveled by rays using the computational model, [c] determining the first surface of a lens equivalent to the initial lens, and [d] calculating the second surface of the equivalent lens by plotting the rays through the equivalent lens and determining their point of intersection with the second equivalent surface. Each ray has an equivalent optical path equal to the initial optical path, or has at least one of the sections of the equivalent optical path equal to the corresponding section of the initial optical path. The equivalent lens thus calculated is the ophthalmic lens that is the object of the invention.

  • Publication number: 20080047301
Abstract: The invention relates to a tool for polishing optical surfaces, comprising a rigid body (10) which is equipped with a polishing face (12) and an elastic sheet (20) which is disposed between the polishing face (12) and the optical surface to be polished. According to the invention, the polishing face (12) of the rigid body (20) takes the form of a portion of a geometric surface which is defined by at Least three parameters. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the aforementioned surface is atoric. The inventive method consists in selecting the above-mentioned tool from a set of available tools, applying an elastic sheet (20) thereto, polishing at least one optical surface and changing the elastic sheet (20) before polishing other optical surfaces. The original shape is maintained with greater precision in relation to the entire surface to be polished, but particularly close to the edges and/or at the centre thereof.
