  • Publication number: 20230310338
Abstract: Anhydrous hydrocolloid matrices contain one or more encapsulated therapeutic agents, including an acne agent and/or skin conditioning agent. The anhydrous hydrocolloid matrices are used as acne treatment dressings alone or in a laminate with a water-impermeable or semi-water impermeable backing and a release liner. The anhydrous hydrocolloid matrices are made using a premix of viscosity modifiers and hydrocarbon emollients and the one or more therapeutic agents, which are mixed via high shear mixing to form the premix. The resulting anhydrous hydrocolloid matrices include the one or more therapeutic agents which are encapsulated and homogeneously distributed therein.

  • Publication number: 20220287946
Abstract: Anhydrous skin care compositions contain encapsulates, which in turn contain active agents, including retinol and/or bakuchiol. When formulated in a stick form and applied to the skin, the pressure applied to the stick during application deposits the skin care composition onto the skin. During application, some of the encapsulates contained in the composition collapse or rupture, releasing some of the retinol and/or bakuchiol payload onto the skin. As application continues, the encapsulates may break up into smaller particles that retain some of the payload of the active agent(s), which remain on the skin and deliver all or a portion of the retained payload to the skin over time, resulting in “extended release” of active agent(s) into the skin.

  • Patent number: 10912739
Abstract: The present technology relates generally to devices for treatment of skin and skin conditions, as well as methods for preparing the devices and methods of treatment using the devices. Suitably, the devices comprise a hydrocolloid dressing and one or more active agents, wherein the amount of the active agent(s) does not reduce the absorption properties of the hydrocolloid dressing.

  • Publication number: 20170304215
Abstract: The present technology relates generally to devices for acne treatment, as well as methods for preparing the devices and methods of treatment using the devices. Suitably, the devices comprise a hydrocolloid dressing and an active agent, wherein the amount of the active agent does not reduce the absorption properties of the hydrocolloid dressing. In exemplary embodiments, the active agent is salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide or sulfur.
