  • Patent number: 9215602
Abstract: A method for simulating a mobile telephone network with shared-access channels. The simulation method includes the steps of simulating at least a first and a second configuration of the mobile telephone network that are statistically independent one from the other. Each one of the steps of simulating includes at least the steps of: determining a number of mobile terminals generating a packet data traffic; assigning to a list of mobile terminals included in the number of mobile terminals generating a packet data traffic, at least one shared-access channel of the mobile telephone network to be simulated; and performing a scheduling management algorithm of the list of mobile terminals on the shared-access channel.

  • Patent number: 8391248
Abstract: A method of evaluating the performance of a mobile telephone network having at least a first and a second simulation of a first and a second network configuration, respectively, which are statistically independent of each other. Each simulation includes the following steps: specifying a total number of users to be simulated; determining a sequence of activation of user blocks included in this total number of users to be simulated and indicating a traffic distribution; activating said user blocks in succession until the total number of users to be simulated is reached; and processing at least one radio resource management event relating to the traffic distribution associated with each currently activated user block. The simulations are repeated until a predetermined accuracy threshold is reached for each simulated network value.

  • Patent number: 8238895
Abstract: In a wireless communications network having a base station subsystem controlling at least one network cell, and in which the base station subsystem communicates with mobile stations in the cell through radio blocks, a method of distributing information contents received in data packets at the base station subsystem to the mobile stations, includes obtaining, starting from the data packets, radio blocks to be transmitted through the network cell, labeling the radio blocks with a first radio link identifier, identifying a logic connection between a mobile station and the base station subsystem, communicating the first radio link identifier to a first mobile station in the network cell, and in case at least one second mobile station in the network cell, asks to receive the information contents, communicating thereto the first radio link identifier.

  • Patent number: 8190409
Abstract: A communication network is simulated with a simulator with object based architecture in which each object represents the model of a network device. The simulated network is capable of corresponding to a plurality of different systems, such as, GSM, GPRS, UMTS, WLAN, fixed networks. At the simulator level, the physical devices of the network are subdivided into a first set of devices completely independent of the system that regulates the operation of the network, the operation of the devices of the first set thus being independent of the system, a second set of devices which depend on the system under consideration, the operation of the devices included in the second set thus being specific for the system under consideration, and a third set of devices for the inter-work between the first set and second set, the devices of the third set being able to interact with the devices independent of the system under consideration and with the devices which do depend on the system under consideration.

  • Patent number: 7701893
Abstract: An acknowledged MBMS service in which a procedure for providing retransmissions of incorrectly received data blocks is performed, together with an outer coding of the data blocks to be transmitted to the MBMS MSs. A sequence of data blocks carrying information related to the MBMS service is encoded at a BSS (Base Station Sub-system) of the mobile network by an outer coding unit. After the outer coding, the resulting data block sequence is sent to the MBMS MSs. If a data block of the outer coded sequence is badly received by a number of MBMS MSs, corresponding negative acknowledgements (nacks) are sent by such MSs to the BSS. The MSs also notify the BSS, with a positive acknowledgement, if they succeed in outer code decoding the sequence of the MBMS carrying information data blocks, in spite of possible badly received data blocks.

  • Patent number: 7263471
Abstract: The behavior of a network for mobile ratio apparatuses is simulated in a work station having a data input capable of inserting data representative of a network scenario, a data output capable of making available data representative of results of the simulation of the network, and a simulation environment associated with the computer and capable of simulating the network on the basis of the network scenario and of generating and sending to the data outputs the data representative of the results. This environment has first objects representative of devices and/or physical elements belonging to the network to be simulated and second objects representative of processing modules separate from the first objects and capable of conditioning and activating the first objects on the basis of the network scenario to simulate the network.

  • Publication number: 20040172231
Abstract: The present invention is related to a system for simulating the behaviour of a telecommunications network for mobile radio apparatuses and to the relating method. The system comprises an integrated simulation environment (30) having a modular structure based on interchangeable objects, that comprise a simulation engine (31) and a plurality of devices (34) representative of apparatuses as well as physical elements of the network. By virtue of its structure based on objects which are interchangeable and capable of being selectively activated, the system allows the simulation of networks for high complexity mobile radio apparatuses in terms of quantity of apparatuses and type of systems or networks. The system is easily expansible as a function of both the variation of the system or network types and the technological implementations available on the market.
