Patent number: 11028601Abstract: A tile spacer comprises a base for engaging a bottom surface of tiles and a stem projecting upwardly from the base. The stem comprises two oppositely facing surfaces and two projections (36, 38) extending in opposite directions from the surfaces so that the stem and the projections define cross-shaped profile with corners for contacting corners of four tiles. At least one of the surfaces of the stem includes a recessed, i.e. set-back, area. The projections extend from the recessed areas. One or both projections can be removed from the stem by breaking the projection(s) so that the tile spacer can be used with four, three or two tiles depending on whether one or both projections is removed. The recessed areas confine any residual material of the projection(s) that is not removed when the projection(s) is broken at least substantially within the recessed area(s) and minimises or avoids altogether interference with laying tiles.Type: GrantFiled: April 10, 2020Date of Patent: June 8, 2021Assignee: ME INNOVATIONS PTY LTDInventor: Enzo Nudo

Patent number: 10151118Abstract: A tile leveller and spacer system that allows rapid and reliable spacing and levelling of tools is described. The tile spacer comprises a base for locating the spacer under the tiles, and a stem that includes an alignment cross which is used to correctly space the tiles. The stem tile spacer is placed over the stem and engages with teeth on the stem. The tile leveller is pushed down over the stem to level the tiles between the base and the bottom of the tile leveller. The stem further comprises a frangible portion located between the base and the tile alignment portion, and when the stem is pulled with sufficient force, the frangible portion breaks to allow removal of the stem. A hand tool may be used to assist in this process. The hand tool can have an adjustable stop which can be set to a first setting to level the tiles, and a second setting to cause the frangible portion to break, allowing removal of the stem and leveller.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 2016Date of Patent: December 11, 2018Assignee: ME Innovations Pty LtdInventors: Michael Andrew Irvine, Enzo Nudo
