  • Patent number: 9148772
Abstract: A mobile device has several ways to determine position, some of which rely on interaction with the network. Once mobile device establishes a call, the call may remain on the network access technology and band over which the call was established, even if the call requires services not supported by the network access technology and/or band. So, when a call requires a position determination (e.g. emergency call), the mobile device selects a network access technology and band which will potentially improve the probability and accuracy of position determination, even if interaction with the network is not required because other position determination techniques (e.g. GPS) may be available.

  • Patent number: 8761815
Abstract: A method, device and system for accessing mobile device user information. A Personal Content Server (PCS) is used to store mobile device user information for one or more mobile device end users. The mobile device user information can be accessed and downloaded, via a communication network, to one or more mobile devices in an appropriate manner, e.g., wirelessly or via a wired connection between the mobile device and the communication network. The mobile device user information allows one or more end users to operate at least one mobile device according to their respective user preferences. The method can include authenticating an end user before allowing user information to be downloaded to the end user's mobile device, and updating user information between the mobile device and the PCS. Mobile device user information can include user identity information, personal preferences, subscription information and application profile information.

  • Publication number: 20040193902
Abstract: A preferred technique includes a digital content rendering device (100) and a method used in the device, including acquiring (305) an encrypted digital content (105), acquiring (305) a set of rules (110) associated with the encrypted digital content that specify permissions involving at least one level of rendering of the digital content that are based on a comparison of a set of specified locations with a sensed location, acquiring (305) an encrypted content key (120), extracting (315) the digital content, determining (330) a sensed location of the content rendering device, performing comparisons (335) of the sensed location to each of the set of specified locations; and determining (340) a level of rendering of the digital content in accordance with the set of rules, based on results of the comparisons.

  • Patent number: 4972493
Abstract: An automatic system for the inspection of surfaces of an object employing computer vision. The system examines the uniformity of the surface and adds it to the negative of an ideal mask, and then thresholds the result to determine if the object is defective or not. A binary image showing only the defects is generated by the system. The system ignores surface features, such as locating notches or markings that are intentional, by "fitting" them with their morphological negatives. Small electronic packages, such as integrated circuit plastic packages (e.g. dual-in-line packages or DIPs), can be accurately inspected by the system. The system provides an objective, fast and economical method of inspecting objects.
